Everyone seems to forget that he didn't make the 2012 or 2013 teams with his college coach and hasn't broken 1:45.00 since May of 2012 (if you go look all of his fastest times were run in May well before it mattered on an international stage). His slowest year was 2014 when he only ran 1:45.90 (changing coaches and training that year).
I also recall that the way to beat Jock was to not let him get to the lead early as he couldn't race with people around very well, he seems to have fixed that issue which probably gives him a better chance in the big international races (assuming he can run fast enough).
It wouldn't be surprising to see him break 1:45.00 again this year if he gets in the right races the way he ran the 800 final...
