It's time for the USATF to adopt the Great Britain system so they can address things like this. It is ridiculous that USATF does not pick the third entry with the two automatic entries coming from the trials. They get what they deserve.

Maybe Martinez clipper her, does a little bunny hop, which it looks like she can recover from but then is clipped by Montano from behind because of the sudden deceleration.
Hopefully Phoebe Wright will blog about this.
First of all Rojo, you are an idiot if you are thinking they re run the race. Have you ever seen a championship race where contact occurs? Shit happens, Incidental contact and straight up pushing and fouls. Bad luck to the individuals that where screwed. So, play the blame game? She did this vs she did that. Hell how about Williams making the Olympic team? You make you owm luck. Ask Morgan Uceny.

No thanks. Then we would be getting Nike athletes in as the 3rd in every event. SRR would be in the 400.

Holy crap....
Montano seems a bit mental.
says several times that she was just out playing it safe in lane 3... that's not what the video looks like. didn't cause this mess on purpose, but she's def playing some delusional defense here.
what a bummer for everyone.
Damn, gotta feel for Martinez. She was well on her way to making the team.

Worthy of a Goucher Award?
But seriously, Roesler, Martinez, and Montono should all have a drink tonight. Then again, someone might need to referee.
Personally, I was pulling for the "TN girl" (Phoebe Wright). Can't wait for her next blog. We all gush over these women but Phoebe is the coolest one by far.
I agree they should rerun it but there's no real reason to dq Wilson, Rogers was just in a bad positioning. Either way they can't because some of them are doing the 15

Lost in the moment when
Alysia Montano fouled Brenda Martinez,
by running up on her
was the fact that
Ajee Wilson fouled Raevyn Rogers,
by cutting in without clearance.
The race should be run again, with 5 runners:
Grace
Ludlow
Martinez
Rogers
Williams
Montano and Wilson are DQ.
Phoebe Wright was unaffected by fouls and is eliminated.

who tripped Martinez? looked like Rogers. does it matter? would they do a DQ and re-run?
Nobody is pointing this out. Martinez trips herself up before going back into Alysia. She tripped on the runner inside of her, pinched her too tight on the curve.
Gosh, Martinez is a class act. Her post-race interview was just so humble. Definitely someone to emulate.
We've been informed the officials have declared that the contact in the women's 800 was incidental and there have been no DQs. The 30 minute protest window is now open.
Does Brenda's team know about the 30 minute window? They may be unaware of it and miss the deadline. You should try to contact them, Weldon (or RoJo, or whoever.)

Yes it all started when Brenda clipped someone...not sure who, if anyone, was at fault. It all sucks.

No. Martinez was almost parallel with Wilson when the idiot Berkeley freak tried to run through her like a fullback.
Now USATF just tweeted that starting this year coaches can be in the room when disqualifications are being reviewed. Trying to look like they are actually doing something of value in this situation.

Bingo!
Looks like AM needs to watch the footage...
Shameful...so much talent, such a poor race plan.
She never was a smart racer. If she had been able to run smart races in the past she would have had several podium finishes. She started running smarter earlier this year but old habits die hard in pressure situations.

And that someone Brenda "clipped" was Montano, who was a fraction too close. Martinez' left spike just grazed Montano's shin/knee, causing her to bring the left leg forward awkwardly and it went on from there.
