Duane "Bang" Solomon, very likely shot himself in the foot and will be going home. What a bonehead mistake!

I'm so hoping for two sluggish slow heats now so Solomon can get in. He made a mistake but not a big one - just a very unlikely one, to have 3 pass him at the tape.
Solomon needs to actually try during races. Last time he totally gave up and ran 3:08. Should have learned from his mistake but this time he let up too early and got nipped
That's how you run a heat. The energy you save easing the last 100m is nothing and can cost you everything. That let-up on the straight in a tight heat is the most frustrating thing to see in another runner.
Kidder with a good last 300m to nab the third automatic qualifier. Berian and Sowinski go out hard and hang on to to 1-2.

No it was not. What did he say.
There is a big wind on the backstrech straight in their face from 100 to 200. It seemed to be larger during heat #1.
He said that it was settled out of court. But it sort of sounded like he meant it was settled, as in just dealt with, not in the legal terms. I know it's semantics and "settled" implies a court/legal proceeding, but in more casual terms it's a reasonable thing to say about something.

No, he injured himself and limped it in probably for the 8th place prize money
RyMar looks totally lost

Solomon out, Engels currently last qualifier at 1:47.77

Loxsom dodged a big bullet. Solomon officially out.

How in the world was that not a "big" mistake? He's going home. With that kind of lead he should have won that heat for sure!
Another tight heat, but this time the favorites come out unscathed. Harris, Loxsom, and Walker onto the semis.
