Liberal friends, how is what he is trying to do any different than what the US would do with an immigration policy?
Rojo, I'm not a liberal friend. Just a fellow Texas conservative. But seriously?
Individual security (mildly effective) vs national security (ineffective)
Individual privacy (effective) vs immigration control (somewhat effective)
Everyday occurrence vs symbol of division
0.5mi vs 2000mi
$500,000 vs $25billion
Nobody ever saw a wall around a house and said, "hmm they must be against a global community."
Trump is talking about a giant steel and concrete wall across the entire border. A wall like that will become a symbol. It won't to me, but it will to many. That's not what we need and more importantly the cost/benefit is out of whack.
But the border patrol says well placed fences/walls do help to slow them down and allow fewer agents to patrol a larger area. It makes sense to build them in select locations. They would range from giant concrete to simple chain link depending on location. That would be backed up by the "virtual wall" (Cameras, sensors), which is backed up by the agents. That's already what is being done, the border patrol just needs a lot more funding to accomplish it.
