Not surprising.
Does anyone else suspect this happening and Nike releasing Berian from that vicegrip may have anything to do with each other?

No. Lots of athletes just went pro, some will sign with Nike, some won't.
Clayton lost me when he opens his twitter bio with "Talent is God given". Maybe he should just pray for a spot on the team since the damn creator of the universe has his back.
It's a quote by someone else about how you should work hard and be thankful for what you have. Not that God gave him everything.

Good for him and not bring put-off by all the BS. Murphy unlike Berian actually made the finals last year.
Lucky for Murphy that Doyle is a better agent than he is a meet promoter.
A good pickup for Nike; I think this guy is going to be good...really good.
Symmonds is out and Soloman will blow up in the final after rabbiting for Brazier. Murphy will easily get the third spot behind Berian and Brazier (with his talent and experience).

It's a famous quote. Dude is great
Any impact on Brazier's leverage?
I have officially signed with Nike! Excited to continue my journey with the Nike family and @DoyleManagement. #NikeRunning #RoadToRio
I got news for you Clayton, Nike isn't a family, it's a den of thieves.

I'd rather be great most of the time than mediocre all the time.
And 1:45 / 3:36 is mediocre for a professional runner.

I honestly don't get why Clayton Murphy could ir would have any haters at this point. He has done almost nothing. He seems like a solid guy and I'm excited to see how he does at the trials.

I agree completely. My concern is similar to those I have had for many other talented up and comers. They develop with a particular setting, school, coach, and approach, then abandon it all for a club and a complete lifestyle and training overhaul. Many never regain the magic that got them to that level. Of course, when Nike is involved, I also suspect that they are using PEDs, and develop an unsubstantiated dislike for athletes that I should be supporting in one way or another. It is a sad slippery slope for fans in our sport. I wish Murphy the best.

"Family," as in crime family.
He is staying at Akron and with his coach (coach Labadie) I would say he made a real smart decision bc I agree with everything you just said
