To those of you who constantly rip him for his coaching abilities, please read this one and weep. Congrats Steve.

Attention all Steve Magness haters, his 800 freshman just made the World Junior team

Steve is a well educated coach who takes the scientific analysis to the max. I have read his book and found it quite informative and useful.
Perhaps his lack of results has more to do with poor recruiting by the head coach? -

They rip him only because he is not a NOP fanboy. If he was a fanboy he would be a great coach. -
There is no lack of results, the guys he gets have been running great.
-
I don't think he coaches Bell. Seems more 400/800 type of runner.
-
Will there be a splash page?
Wow. -
Magness, Kara, Rojo... How did all that slandering of NOP turn out? You know, that investigation you got started with all of your accusations. What ever happened to this?
Maybe time for an apology? -
Steve Magness is the second highest paid man named Steve Magness in Houston.

Top 2 were Texas Tech and Houston, and both benefitted from Texas A&M's Brazier scratching.
How far does Magness and Bell have to drive to shake Donavan's hand and thank him for the trip to Poland? -
Still hate him.
Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I think Salazar's gonna have a few athletes make THE FREAKING OLYMPICS. -
Sample size = 1.
An analogy from the (real) sports world. Charlie Strong looked great at Louisville when Bridgewater was there. He's not looking so good at Texas. Perhaps you're implying the same faulty coach-athlete causal relationship that led to the big contract for Strong.
Because you're dense, I'll spell it out for you. Similar to the championship teams of Dean Smith, Bowden and Calipari, there are sometimes talents so great that even a subpar coach can't screw them up.
Did you really graduate from an Ivy??? Lay off the sauce, it's clouding your judgement. -
Magness has an athlete whose already made the olympics in the 800. And a potential American with a shot.
This thread is dumb. Should be deleted. -
Brojo: how about let's hold up a little until Magness turns a 9:40 2 miler into Pat Porter. Can we get more vigil, wet more, and what the hell has Chris fox said the last few months?
-
LOL at all the NOP fan boys who fell for Rojo's clickbait subject line.
Well done Robert. Keep the clicks coming. -
My problem is more that he is a disingenuous doping NOPer.
He is too smart to believe the testosterone/testoboost story, but went along with it for a little while as he built up his coaching credentials. He took too long to disassociate from the situation and when he finally left he didn't even bring enough evidence with him to take down Salazar. -

that is a crappy pay if accurate. he should have finished that phd he started -
I have never heard anyone rip Steve for his ability to coach the 800 or 1500. His criticisms come when he acts like he has a grasp of any thing longer.
-
No one says he can't coach.
It is his ridiculous ability to spot dopers through the tv while he didn't notice anything in the years he was at NOP, even trafficking drugs to Europe wasn't past him
Houlier-than-thou cnut who just like his fame mad friend Marcus needs to calm down -
Good for him. He's gotten a lot of crap for things other than his coaching ability.
Also, why can the timing company claim copyright on race times? They aren't creative works. Can none of the runners involved put their times in running logs without permission? It's no different than putting numbers in a phone book. -
Maybe it's not hate, but honest opinion.
