Just heard the interview myself. It was a turnoff onto a path off the ROAD, less than 3 miles from the previous aid station. The race dropped the ball on this. They probably still think this race is what it was decades ago, not a big time race and everyone is truly volunteering so there's no responsibility. The race isn't like that anymore and they need to up their game, as the runners have upped their game in terms of quality.
