Let coaches and scientists do their own job, that is very different.
Good coaches know the effect of altitude training very much well than scientists, since have the opportunity to go in different places, different altitudes, different latitudes, different vegetation, different period of training, and with athletes of different value, different background, different level of shape, different age, different morphology and different mentality.
There is no way that, for top talented athletes, EPO can change their performances, if they use the best training in altitude. How I explained several times, and scientists are not yet able to explain BECAUSE DON'T HAVE SIMILAR DATA with long period of training with top athletes born, living and training at high level, the effects of altitude OVERTAKE the effects of blood doping for athletes training at sea level.
Training in altitude, and taking EPO, have effects NOT CUMULABLE, so one cancel the effects of the other.
Second thing, it's time to finish to think that HIGH BLOOD VALUES can have a direct effect on the performances. I had in my life a lot of athletes, not only Kenyan, but from several Countries, who were able to perform at their best when their values were LOWER than before. The last example was with the Chinese team for Asian Games in Korea (2014) : after 2 months of altitude training in Duoba (2400m), and blood tests every week with all the athletes (24) because in Duoba there is a good lab, and I had the opportunity to follow WEEKLY the development of the values in this situation, THE 3 ATHLETES IMPROVING DRAMATICALLY THEIR PB WENT TO COMPETE WITH VALUES LOWER THAN BEFORE GOING TO ALTITUDE, while other who had a big increase in their values of Hb and Hct were not able to better their PB.
EPO is something absolutely overrated when we speak about the enhancement of performances, if we look at the best athletes, with the best training. On the contrary, nobody can deny that steroids can produce on the performances a strong improvement (and if some scientist thought this, his research was a total bullshit).
