She should!
These girls peak out real early. Take the money and run.

I wonder what went through Cain's mind when she saw Murphy run.
Been there, done that... Wait and see... Enjoy it while it lasts...
Ok, let me try to break 4:10 now...
Doh...
Dear Letsrun, you shouldn't write on the main page that a girl won the girl's dream mile in 4:07.....just sayin
Wow, that is like 3:39 for a boy.
We should all be talking about this girl's training not Drew Hunter and co.
No, it's more like 4:07 for a girl.
Also, Murphy and Hunter live about an hour apart, as does 1:48 junior Brandon McGorty and 2:06 junior Rachel McArthur.
The secret seems to be to live in Northern Virginia.
She looks young....I guess she is.

Well 4:07 for a female is about the same quality at 3:39 for a male. It's not that hard to make a comparison really.
I was comparing her to Drew Hunter so a male conversion was necessary for clarity.
I Loved the interview. Great answers and good poise.
Mentally, I never took to Cain's goofball "easy-come-easy-go" demeanor. Murphy seems more like Efraimson, but more focused, more of a competitive instinct. Mary kicked the door open, but Kate and Christina are going to just tear it off the hinges. The days when a girl running sub-4:40 for 1600 could make her #1 are over for good.
I'll just add that Murphy blew Murielle Hall's doors off a month ago. Yesterday Hall ran 15:13. Aragon is doing similar things. Kids mixing it up with pros and beating them is a unique facet of our sport, at least compared to team sports. this of course being a double-edged sword. Running seems to be approximating gymnastics and swimming in this regard, at least for girls.

No it's not. The best runners on earth are adults. Not teenagers.
Which is why I used the qualifier "approximating", not "equaling". It also indicates a dynamic situation. In just the last few years there have been High School girls in the mix for (and actually making) World teams. I haven't heard of this in team sports like soccer.

a) she will be going to Oregon most likely.
b) Northern VA has some of the most elite runners besides those mentioned already (the lyles brothers)
c) she is on the path to burning out in a year or two

We know nothing about her training progression, durability or injury history and you already can predict the trajectory of her future running career? Thanks for the fact-free opinion. You now are fully certified to be a regular LR troll.

I don't know what it equates to but between her, Cranny, Effraimson, and Cain we have had a lot of once in a generation talents over the past 4 years. Hopefully it is a trend and not just blip.
Wow 4.07 is faster then any College runner this year ran. Really hope she does pick Oregon. Honestly Oregon could have used her this year I think Oregon was 10 points shy of winning NCAA this year without their top 2 sub 11 sprinters. Next year their seems to be a gripe of really talented athletes. I hope Oregon can land a couple of them like Murphy,Watson,Mclaughlin,Seymour and Rain Williams to name a couple.
She's a girl, not your future points machine.

A better secret would be growing up in OHIO!!
1 Clayton Murphy Akron 3:36.38
4 Brannon Kidder Penn State 3:40.67
5 Sam Prakel Oregon 3:40.84
She's never even been hurt either, so I'd say she's doing pretty well...
She'll go to Oregon, she's obsessed with Jordan hasay and Oregon in general
My fear is that these high school kids are doing elite type training. What's the long term plan or is there one?
