I think that if Murphy and Brazier raced 10 times Murphy would win most of the time, but don't think he have won this race

Just for sh*ts... dude has a PR 2 seconds behind Brazier. Dude has run 3.2 seconds slower than Brazier this season.
What a facile analysis. Are you forgetting that just a week ago Donovan Brazier's pr was slower than Clayton Murphy's?
True, but we're asking the question from today, knowing Brazier's proven his talent, again. Yes, Murphy had a slightly faster PR prior to 6/8/16, but it was from 11 months ago, when Brazier was celebrating HS graduation.
If we look at this year, they have a similar string of 1:46/47 races in Feb-May, but Brazier provided a bold glimpse of what could come with 1:45.93, literally out-the-gate. Additionally, Brazier's racing quieted down in March/April (leading people to question his future), while Murphy kept rolling. Nothing wrong with either scenario, but now we see Brazier with 3rd fastest in the WORLD right now and Murphy 34th.
Brazier, this year:
1 1:45.93a Jan 16 Texas A&M 11-Team Invitational V F
1 1:47.80a Feb 6 Charlie Thomas Invitational V F
1 1:46.74a Feb 27 SEC Indoor Championships V P
1 1:46.08a Feb 27 SEC Indoor Championships V F
5 1:51.56a Apr 16 UCLA vs Texas A&M Dual Meet V F
7 1:47.55a May 12 SEC Championships V P
3 1:46.19a May 12 SEC Championships V F
1 1:46.53a May 27 NCAA DI West Region T&F Champs (Day 1) Col P
1 1:45.07a Jun 8 NCAA DI Outdoor T&F Champs (Day 1) Col P
1 1:43.55a Jun 10 NCAA DI Outdoor T&F Champs (Day 3) Col F
Murphy, this year:
1 1:51.43a Jan 22 Akron vs. Kent State Dual V F
7 1:48.67a Jan 29 Penn State National Inv F
1 1:46.13a Feb 13 Iowa State Classic V F
1 1:48.65a Feb 26 Mid-American Indoor Championships V F
1 1:46.92a Mar 11 NCAA DI Indoor T&F Championships (Day 1) Col P
1 1:46.68a Mar 12 NCAA DI Indoor T&F Championships (Day 2) Col F
1 1:47.38a Mar 30 Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (College / University) I F
1 1:46.71a Apr 28 Drake Relays OP F
3 1:51.22a May 12 Mid-American Outdoor Conference V P

???? Brazier never says a word against anyone and hardly anything for himself. You only spout garbage.

Murphy would have most likely won the 800. He is a stronger runner with more experience. Brazier is good at doing a lot of jive talk. Brazier will never be any fast than what he just ran. Mark my words!

Dude get a life
My bad this guy needs to get a life*****
Btw I vote Murphy as well
Brazier is a clown like Farah and Chez, tailing McBride and only running just fast enough to win.
This question isn't thread worthy. Murphy has as much chance beating Brazier as I do. ZERO.
All these anonymous anti-Brazier posts are clearly coming from the same person.
Would Donovan Brazier have won the NCAA 1500?

McBride wouldn't dare to front run with Murphy on his tail. I think there's a strong argument to be made that McBride feared Murphy way more than he feared Brazier up until Friday. McBride had just as fast a 1500 as Murphy up until NCAAs, and they had similar 400s. I don't think it's a stretch to think that McBride wouldn't want to be the sacrificial lamb if Murphy were in the race. He should never have been in any case. It was McBride's miscalculation that led to Ryun's record being broken. He might have beaten Brazier if the pace were north of 1:46.
Oh...THAT John Holmes! wrote:Yeah...cuz going out slower takes the kick out of a guy like Murphy.
Try to think at least a little before hacking away at the keyboard.
Sure he would have - McBride always frontruns.

Murphy would definitely have been the first white guy.
Just stop it.

This was the same asinine argument used by people who were sure Drew Hunter could run 3:53 at Pre. Just because one guy has an incredible performance (Webb, Brizier) obliterating his PR and taking a record in the process does not mean it's normal progression for every really good runner. Murphy had a great 1500m and maybe he has a really good 800m in him too but marking him down for 1:43.55 based on previous PR's makes you sound like a middle school fan boy who doesn't understand running.

He would have tagged McBride but no one was beating Brazier. He had 1:42 in him if necessary (considering how he passed McBride on the curve then looked like he was cruising it in)
He did not look like he was cruising it in at all.

I'm a little surprised to be in the minority, but I think Murphy would have. No way would Mcbride have gone out in 50 with Murphy right on his tail. McBride must have assumed he could run away from Brazier and Walker, but I doubt he would have felt the same about Murphy. The pace would have gone out slower, unless Brazier wanted to be the sacrificial lamb--how'd that work out for Hector Hernandez or Brandon McBride?--and Murphy, with his USA Championships and Worlds experience, would have likely outkicked both of them over the last 150, much as he did to Wynne and Yorks. Without Murphy, McBride thought he could win against anyone in a straight race. He proved incorrect.
If McBride hadn't led out hard, Brazier would have gone by. 50-point was a given with those two in it, and Murphy can't hang with that. (That's why as an 800 specialist his PR is 1:45. He's Symmonds-like, not Solomon-like.)
At best Murphy would have run down McBride for 2nd. Hardly a given. He's welcome to prove that ability at trials but guess what, he's scared of the field and chasing a qualifier in the 1500 where he may luck out tactically against a sh!t field.
Haha I find this humorous. Murphy scared although he took on the field in indoor season with freshmen Brazier coming in with the fastest time. Murphy then switches to 1500 after Brazier falls off the map. Murphy went for the more competitive 1500 at the time as along with the rest of us who also thought it was more competitive flo track let's run etc. Who knows which Clayton will choose but he could definitely make either
Let's all thank Clayton for the 1:43 because if he would have run the race would have been completely different. Mcbride wouldn't had tried to run wire to wire : Brazier should be thanking him for the record winning time.....
Oh dear....
Just because Murphy won in an okay 3.36 time 1500 it doesn't make him middle distance's next big star. Brazier would absolutely crush him, he would destroy him. Brazier's more likely to be the future.
Also for the record, Brandon McBride would also crush Murphy so
Yeah, there is no way McBride would try to run the kick out of Murphy. Last year McBride refused to take the pace, and that turned out SOOOO well for him against Clayton./sarcasmGood to know the pathetic level of analysis that is rampant at the hoi polloi level of LRC. Leaves plenty of breathing room for those with a few brain cells as well as experience in the sport.
