I was thinking we should also make a LetsRun.com tshirt . All proceeds go to set up a fund to pay someone if they can break the transcontinental record.
Any one got an idea for the design? A slogan or something?
We should celebrate all of the frauds.
Cheaters Beware:
Litton, Rossi, Young
or maybe we just have their names
Litton, Rossi, Young
and then maybe our logo on the sleeve?
We couldn't get sued for using their names could we?
FYI--There is someone already on pace to break the Trans-con record and is currently on day 20.
Don't offer the cheat anything - it will just boost his ego. He thrives on attention, and you would be giving him the attention he needs . Ignore him and he will be forced to come out and do something stupid on his own, if he does venture out again.
only elite/OT caliber athletes could do this.
I think he probably ran part of the segments, only polite to work up some sort of appetite for all those free meals that they blagged
Wow. Dave Warady, who allegedly won the 1992 Runners World transcon race, is defending RY and criticizing the investigation of RY in the comments of the Skins blog.
Maybe he's new to this whole RY thing, but I don't know how he could be.

I completely agree.
There is really only one reason SKINS did not terminate the employee. SKINS was in on the cheating to ensure RY broke the record which would bring more attention on to the brand. SKINS realized the public caught on and it was blowing up in their faces so SKINS ordered for the investigation so they could completely throw RY under the bus (RV?) allowing the company to save face by "playing dumb".
You are making an assumption without hard evidence.
It seems strange with your apparent desire to prove the runner wrong you would have a done a random sampling of parts of his run at different times of the day. Including daylight in which you could actually see him vs what appears to be a poor attempt at night.
It you do it 100%, be professional in your approach and gather absolute hard evidence not personal assumptions.

Someone only needs to find a "runner" cheating once, there is no requirement at all to have any kind of rigorous methodology behind this so one could presumably say "6 times out of 10 he seemed to be running". The hard evidence from continual monitoring was that he blew up pretty quickly.
I tend to agree as there is really no reason the Skins employee would collude with two people he doesn't even know as it doesn't benefit him at all and especially when the public scrutiny started he'd be the first person to start singing. RY needs to keep up the rouse and Dustin wrote a book about him so he also benefits but the Skins guy just started working there about 6 months before right out of college so I'd have to think anything he saw that he alerted his superiors immediately. Also don't think he has any running background much less ultra experience.
Yeah, Robert Young Definitely Lied About His Run From California To Kansas @FloTrack

That's right! Rule of law and science in this United Nations! A person is only cheating if they cheated 100% the whole time! Otherwise they are innocent. That is the scientific method! That is due process! If someone was caught doping they are innocent because they need to be doping on every possible occasion. You have to be a perfect failure or you will not make the grade.
Wait a second.
No. Nope this poster is a moron. That's right. One single case can disprove an entire body. That's the amount of rigor needed. Clearly this idiot poster doesn't know what science and due process are.

So RY obviously cheated and had help.
But do we have proof the help came from Michael? Consider a few of the facts we know:
1. According to the report, the "assistance" (cheating) started with the RV breakdown. We are pretty sure what happened there: Michael and Dustin stayed with the RV while Rob Young ran about 3 miles, walked long enough to hitch a ride north, and then continued running to his destination. The first "assistance" was not from the RV or from either Michael or Dustin. It was hitchhiking from a random driver.
2. Evidence points to the cheating primarily happening at night -- he didn't cheat ALL the time, he ran SOME of the miles. Why bother? If cheating, why not just ride the RV the whole way? What if Michael and Dustin alternated driving duties, and RY ran while Michael could see him, and rode while Michael was sleeping?
3. There's at least one case (gas station video) where we know the RV drove by slowly, and RY was running some distance behind. What if he had assistance from someone other than the RV, and caught rides in dark, open areas while running through lit towns?
4. I'm still trying to grasp WTF happened at the highway closure area where the watch backtracked a mile or so. Why do this if it was just the RV? What if this was RY in a car ahead of the RV, and they realized they had to speed up and then RY wanted to go back to a point where he was "supposed to be" when the RV (and driver/witness Michael) caught up to him?
Bottom line: do we have definitive proof that all the low-cadence runs corresponded to GPS points that matched the location of the RV and its beacon? (There would be at least one exception, the RV breakdown... but are there others?)
Is there another shooter?

Down for me too, and I've never commented on it so no reason for me to be blocked.

Probably deactivated.

Hmm... interesting!
We do know from the bicycle video that a second person wore the second watch at least some times. What if one watch was in the RV moving slowly while RY was out running or riding the bike or hitching rides, maybe leapfrogging the RV and hiding from Michael when it drove by? And which watch got uploaded was dependent on what happened?
Michael acknowledged in his interview that he was driver during the Asher incident. So point 2 would not be correct.
It is very, very likely Michael knew what was going on or at least knew something was fishy. There is a very small chance that Micheal is just a very gullible moron. If you are easily manipulated by the charming Robert Young lie machine and are a complete idiot then maybe you can be tricked by RY riding on the rear bumper.
If I was Skins, I would definitely fire Michael. He's either a cheat or a moron and I don't want either working for me.
Rob could have just hopped up on the back of the RV at various times without the driver knowing, right? I don't know what the back of their specific RV looks like, but if it's one of those with a ladder maybe he just climbed up and stood on the bumper at various times during the night.
