How legit is Lisa Smith-Batchen? She is one of Rob's biggest supporters on FB. Her Wiki has her being a pretty good ultra runner/marathoner. I find it amazing that someone that accomplished in running and her related running business would be so blind to the obvious. She must know the claims he made before Asher were suspect as a very experienced runner. Those miles and paces he was throwing down were simply ridiculous.
My guess: She's a charity scammer.
I suspect she drove RY in her van for big parts of the RaceAcrossUsa thing.
She's been doing ultras for a long time and started of as legit. Had some respectable times in the past. I haven't exactly been keeping up with what's she been doing lately. Many ultra results can be found at ultrasignup.com
LSB hasn't been relevant in ultras for over ten years now.
And how could someone who's been involved in ultras for over 20 years NOT see the inconsistencies of RY's run?
“It’s incredible what he’s doing,†Smith-Batchen told Runner’s World. “If I thought for one second he was cheating, I would not be supporting this at all. I told Rob and his crew on the phone, ‘Look, I’m sticking my neck out for you guys. So if you’re cheating, I will never forgive you.’â€
She did say Young has made mistakes in his record-keeping. “I do feel he could have done a few things differently," she said. “I would have a watch on each hand. I’d have the tracker in my back pocket, and I’d download somewhere like MapMyRun or Strava, if you have the ability to do that.â€
She has not been nearly as vocal on his fb page from what I've seen in the last week or so. When the saga started she was replying to basically everything posted on his page, but at least in the last few days-a week hasn't been seen at all from what I've looked at. Realized he's cheating?
