Hi Asher
Bit late to reply as I did what somebody suggested and ploughed through all 24 pages. It does make interesting reading. There seems to be a mix of people concerned at the validity of the attempt and others who just want to throw a bit of vitriol around. I do understand the questions people have, particularly after the Vaz incident we have had over here. What I guess I came on here to do was just throw a little light on the other side. You see people immediately writing off everything Rob has done, just because there hasn't been an explanation for what was happening when you were videoing. It doesn't mean there isn't one, just that one hasn't been given. I know he completed that sleepless run because I did 60 miles of it with him, took over from somebody else and handed on to someone else (which reading back was the Kev poster) That time Rob didn't gps it all because he was not doing a Guinness record, and I don't think he actually had a GPS watch. I posted up my strava for my section and I'm sure others could. But it is annoying when you see people saying he definitely didn't do that on the basis they are doubting he is doing this. Like you, I really do hope people go along and run with him as they say they are. I reckon they will be surprised by what they find but, if they do find he has been cheating, there will be no one more surprised than me. Also Rob has said that he has been wearing a GPS watch all the time, so hopefully some data will be forthcoming. 1.30am here now, so this will be my last post.

Wouldn't a GPS on a guy's wrist sleeping in an RV be the same as GPS on the RV? I think someone mentioned getting heartrate and other data. The RV is being tracked. Not sure what another GPS would add to that. -

GPS data will prove nothing. Anyone can put a Garmin on a dashboard of an RV. -

Well thoughtout reply/post. Thanks for taking the time and your thoughts. Be prepared to have the peeps on here destroy you/it, but know at least I appreciate the message. -
That was going to be my last post but saw this and realised there will be no win either way, All through this thread people have been saying why doesn't he wear gps, they are so cheap these days, then when he says he has been and will post data, that's not enough. The data will be submitted to Guinness and is being carried out according to their stipulations but, no, Guinness are crooked and you can't trust them. It ends up a bit like trying to argue with conspiracy theorists that Armstrong really did walk on the moon. I think the best thing will be people you trust to go and meet Rob and run wth him for a week. I'm sure they will be able to assess whether he is a fake or not (though even then unbelievably there have been people on here saying, yes, but just because he is doing it now, doesn't mean he has been all along, so no you will never convince everybody)

Brother, someone is coming to run with him and that someone is one of the most respected dudes I know of. If Lazarus says it's legit it's legit. -

He did? He explained how his 10k PR pace is faster than his 5k PR? He ran a fourth of a marathon at a 2:10 marathon pace (under 5 minutes per mile)? What Kenyans was he running with?
His site says "10km 30:47 – 33:52 during a Marathon (london marathon first 10km 36:31)"
If the 30:47 and the 33:52 were both during a marathon, why list the 33:52? Can you show on the site where he clarified this? It's confusing.
Rob can run side by side with Kenyans a quarter of the marathon distance. Sure. Totally believable. LMFAO
One theory:
1. The 30:47 10k is supposed to represent an unrecorded short run that just happens to be a PR at the distance;
2. The 33:52 10k was during one of his "marathons" (those long training where he raced no one, but were meant solely for the purpose of the "world record" marathon streak). Maybe he picked it up in front of some of his easily impressionable 10mm friends and said "hey guys, this is what a 5:30 pace looks like!" and they all ate it up; and
3.The 36:31 10k is the only one that is officially recorded (as a split of London, where all those other runners probably slowed him down a lot). -
Oh, Rob will ante up and run if people show up, trust me.
But he has not run the full distance across America. That is FACT. -

Wearing a heartrate monitor linked to the Garmin would certainly help. A "foot pod" seems like it would provide useful supporting data, too (most notably cadence) - https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/shop-by-accessories/fitness-sensors/foot-pod/prod15516.html -
Yep, and after seeing the other hype about duathlons, etc., he could run the rest of the way to New York with a hundred people and it's still bogus.
Will he be taking any drug tests? -
I'm really glad to see that but, like I said straightaway you get someone saying yeah but he didn't run the rest!! He is being scrutinised now so let's say your man Lazarus says it's legit and the guy is capable of running 65 miles a day and he does that to the end, would he really have bothered faking it up to now? I despair

Then you, CoachKev or Rob can simply explain where is Rob during the time Asher was looking for him and in the videos he posted while RV was "running." Simple question needs simple answer. Don't tell us convoluted story about his walking ability or his coffee boost. We don't care. Where was he running during the time his tracker attached to the RV was running? Why hasn't Rob answered question with non-answer of "come run with me." His record attempt is already tainted. It doesn't even matter what he does from now until he can prove he was running through Kansas.
-
Answer Garmin 235. Simple. HR on wrist. Cadence. Very long battery life. I am sure Rob knows that already.
-
It easier than that even, all we need is a camera on the back of the car with timestamps and it would be legit. However the only video we have at this moment is a video of Mr. Young not running.

A few obs and thoughts.
As he is primarily running at night, he has more restrictions on what he can and cannot safely do. Most/much of the route would be unlit.
He would need to run on a reliable and predictive section of the road, unlikely he would be on any grassy areas off the roadway, these are unmaintained, ungroomed and filled with hazards.
He would be in reflective clothing and likely wear a light, it would make him very visible whether ahead, behind or beside the van.
He wouldn't run next to the van for any length, this would be risky, particularly at night, maybe only occasionally to exchange info or fuel, water, etc. Most running would usually be a safe distance ahead of the van and using the headlight glow for seeing, but not out of sight. Maybe behind the van but this would be less beneficial for the runner and the road crew would have difficulty knowing the runners proximity if he's behind it.
The van would have no reason to drive at running pace unless directly accompanying the runner. I could see them parked at a contact point or during a rest period, or driving at traffic speed to catch up or detour for supplies, errands, etc. Driving slowly along the roads without the runner nearby would be a waste of gas and somewhat risky to the road crew and a potential hazard to other vehicles on the road.
I am curious where this venture is going to go. -
I'm only on page 8, and kind of tempted to take an RV to page 25. But I have ethics, dammit!
-
If this guy can crank out sub 6 min miles (in the middle of the night on the shoulder of the road...) for 2 runs of 25 miles in a 24 hour period (50 miles total) as claimed I will donate $1000 to the charity of his choice.
Run must be documented on film and with live witnesses (RoJo when he makes his trip). You must track and upload with gps data. Do this for just one day... As you claim you have done the whole trip and I will write the check.
Email to attempt and video to Rojo and post link here. -

What if you went to page 25 really slowly, to emulate the speed of actually reading the pages in between? -
It seems that this whole discussion has slowed down Robert significantly.
Only around 41.3 miles in the last 24 hours. -
I won the race to page 26
