Bump. A lot of confident responses in this thread. Looks like this post wasn't so crazy after all.

Kiprop shouldn't be at his best in early June when the Olympics are in August. People are basing wild claims of his invincibility based on what he has done in the past and what he is alleged to have done in training.
Based on the 2 races I have seen him run THIS season, he looks to be the best currently and a clear favourite for Rio, but I don't think he's in 3:26 shape just yet, and I think that in his current form, based on statistical analysis, as there is no way of measuring ease of effort, there have been quite a few from previous years who could beat him.
Showing peak performances from last year does not back up the suggestion he is CURRENTLY invincible against all other runners from history!

No.
Centro is THE MAN.
Yes, many confident responses.
Some with more reason to be confident than others.
Centro is the most overrated runner next to Galen Rupp. Both got lucky in the olympics and get their shit kicked in actual races

My high school coach had those motivational posters:
Luck is the residue of design.
The harder I work, the luckier I get.

So the Olympics are not actual races? I'm sure Centro would gladly trade careers with Kiprop right now

I'm sorry, but you don't win an Olympic title in 3:50, running from the front on luck!
If half the field had fallen then you may have a point, but he held off both Kiprop and Makhloufi on the last lap when they were on his shoulder.
Centrowitz is in great form and run the best tactical race. He wasn't lucky, you make your own luck.
The only guy who could have beaten him based on their splits was Makhloufi, but he ran wide on a lot of bends, something he didn't need to do had he run a smart race.

Certainly not all of them. Not in a sport governed by a major apparel corporation with a huge financial stake in the results, at the only track meet with a wide audience in wealthy countries.
Centro's gold medal is going to sell at least 30,000 pairs of shoes a year for the next 20 years. Lots of shirts, shorts, jackets too. It is worth millions of dollars in profits.
Good call
