You win. Dreadful, whiny music. Just put those guys in a bus with Built to Spill and push it over a cliff.

He won but you get a strong second.
In no particular order
The Doors
The Grateful Dead
Pink Floyd
The Band
Prince
Prince
The Artist formerly known as Prince
Radiohead
Dave Matthews Band
Eagles/Foreigner/Styx and every other formulaic corporate "rock" band from the 70's. I lump them together as one band because in reality that's what they were.
In no particular order-
White Stripes
Elvis Costello
Lou Reed
Rolling Stones
Any band with "crows" (or any derivitive to crows) in the title
Some more:
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Sublime
Jane's Addiction
Dirty Projectors
Death Cab for Cutie
Grizzly Bear
most contemporary post-rock and nu-gaze
Jimmy Buffett

^this is the best list in this thread. I might disagree with the order but can't dispute the bands on the list. Well done.
The Eagles
Crosby, Stills and Nash (left Young off intentionally)
The Beatles
Chicago
Blood, Sweat and Tears
Jefferson Starship (but I loved Jefferson Airplane)
Eric Clapton's voice
I've seen the Beatles on the list multiple times. Can someone explain their logic on it?

I'm going just say that any rock band that has sold 50 million records can't be called overrated unless they are being compared to the beatles.

I'll change that to 75 million to keep nickelback out
The key word is "overrated."
Many people consider the Beatles the greatest band of all time. I would say that is overrating them. Do you (Hmmm....) consider them the greatest band of all time?
the dead
tom waits
sublime
dave matthews
AC/DC

I probably do because of their impact, but if you don't, I get it. That's a good explanation.

Eagles, and CSN are underrated. Beatles are appropriately rated as being the best of all time. Jefferson Starship is appropriately rated as being awful. No opinions on the rest.
