The men's marathon team for Rio was by far the easiest distance event to make the US Olympic team in. We have a first timer, a master and a journeyman representing us. Ritz has to be kicking himself for no taking the trials more seriously.
Ritz abilities have slipped drastically. Much like Ryan Hall people have a tough time letting go of the past.
He finished 3rd in both the 10 mile and 20k championships in his two most recent races. Neither of those races included Rupp or Meb. He was a long shot to make the team and was no better than Ward or Pennell or Puskedra. Just another guy at this point in his career.
