Ok I've done some pretty big peaks and hard climbs. I've also tried to run sub 2:30 and came up short. Pretty sure I could buy my way to summit of Everest...but can't buy a sub 2:30.
Running 5:40 pace in your 40s is very difficult but hiking up Everest at 45-55yrs old is totally doable.
Not easy, but with oxygen no problem. Not safe and maybe I would die, but easier than running 2:30 when I'm 50.
Tons of older guys/gals with no major...athletic pedigree have stood on top of Everest.
Both are difficult but at 50 years old no rich buisness man or woman can run 2:30! No way.
At 50 an decent athlete could climb Everest with help. Not safely and certainly not easy, but possible for many. Sub-2:30 would be impossible for 99% of people at 45,50,55,60 years old.
