Yeah totally. He was practically limping out there. But seriously, he's not on the list

Everyone keeps saying that it's crap that these milers let a 10K guy beat 'em in a 1500. Mead is a 13:02 guy for God's sake. Also 7:38 for 3K and now a 3:37 1500 guy. 3:37 converts to a 3:54 mile. Today's race slowed mid way to 61 pace so it actually turned into a tactical race. So what is so surprising to see a 3:54 miler win a tactical race, even against a lot of our best guys?
That type of thing isn't surprising at all and doesn't take away from the other guys in the race. Remember Manzano (3:38) and Wheating (3:39) were the only 2 under 3:40 last year at this meet (and the rain didn't start til after their race).
Natosha looked great but what the hell is up with Renee Metivier DNFing every race?

I've noticed Renee dnf'inf as well. Hmmm...
Yeah, Mead is a 10K guy. But he can run a 3:54 mile. Rupp's a 10K guy and he runs a 3:50 mile.
If you can run SUB 27 for 10K like Rupp or 13:02 for 5K like Mead you better DAMN WELL be able to run with our country's best milers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys whining about our milers losing to a 10K guy need to study up on the sport...
why are people saying Mead is a 10K guy? just because he made the olympic team? his 5K best is much stronger than his 10K best.
Great run for Drew Windle of Brooks Beasts. 1:47. Look for him to shape up even more. Top 5 at trials.

if Hasay doesn't make the Olympic team this year, she won't be wearing a NOP singlet next track season. She is no where near elite right now. I want her to do well and I don't know if she has enough time to get back to where she was last year. She looks like she's depressed right now.
Just a bad race... Didn't she run 31:5x a few weeks ago in the 10k?

Leo "the hamster" Manzano will win his heat just like last year. 3:35.8.
OOPS!

If you want to cover your bases, just pronounce it Hoka O-nay One.

Jager knows this and said he thinks he’ll have to close in 55 or 56 to earn a medal at Worlds.
Well, since you brought up 'Worlds', lets take a trip back into time when Jager peaked way too early and got smashed in the final. New year, same result... There is a 0% chance Jager medals at the Olympics

I may be wrong, but it looked like she was trying to go for the Olympic standard and held on as long as she could, and then faded badly in the last few laps from overdoing it. In other words, she's in much better shape than 15:50 if she ran an even pace. But she doesn't have the fitness for the Olympic standard yet.

What he said...
Does anyone know what happened to Manzano? That was very bad. I know they said that he was sick in January or February but that was several months ago. Doesn't make sense. I could see him running poorly in March and even April but it is nearly June. He has 7 weeks. He is lucky that no American 1500m runner looks that good right now.
Have you been watching track for any of the last 10 years? Manzano ALWAYS drops some stinkers. I'm talking 4:05 miles, 3:48 1500m, 14:00 5Ks.
Manzano trains to run ROUNDS in JULY, homie.
Ok homie but he has not had even a respectable race this year. I get that he runs poorly at times but it looks way worse than that now. I think that he will still make the team but only because no one is running that well yet. Probably good because they all looked like toast by world champs last summer and they were crushing it by this time.

American runners don't look good right now because they're in mega training mode. When do a bunch of American milers normally lay down fast times? Not usually in May. Last year Manzano and Wheating took 1-2 at Hoka One One in 3:38 and 3:39. This year the top guys went 3:37 and 3:38. By year's end last year we had a bunch of fast milers. We'll be fine.
So will Manzano.
From the weather station data, it was 5-10mph winds in the early evening, not fast running conditions.

It's not nearly June. It's May 20th.
I'm going to suggest LetsRun starts the Hoka Eleven movement!!!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
