Kiprop is on form now. He will run away from the field, race will be for second.

To get the best in the world together this early in an Olympic year takes a lot of money. I would love to know what the appearance fees are for these dudes to all agree to knock heads.

You would have asked the same thing of Webb as well the day he broke Ryun's record.
Webb finishes a step behind Lagat, who'd already run 1:46, 3:30 and 7:33 at that point in his career, and would run 3:26 three months later.

I think he meant before the race.

Where is Manzano in that field? World championship finalist yet they won't let him run Pre? I don't get it.Wondering if Manzano switching to Hawi Keflezighi as his agent had anything to do with it? Looks like one other athlete who usually competes at the Pre is getting left out this year, after switching to Hawi as an agent. Maybe coincidence, maybe not.
Hawi is the worst, it's beyond me why top athletes would let him represent them. He is really good at asking for to much $$$$ and letting month after month go by. In the end the athlete is left with no contract.
Hunter is way over matched. Major mistake to do this instead of the International Mile. These guys are going to be going 3:48-3:50 pace for the vast majority of the race (with stragglers in the late stage of the races). They'll hit the 800m just a few seconds shy of Hunter's PR. He might be almost 100m down on the field
You guys see the DOHA 1500m with that Australian guy hanging out way in the back (he tripped at start)? It'll be like that for Hunter.
Slagowski has the higher top end speed. If anything he and Hunter should be in the international mile. They'd have a chance of winning it.
A lot of salty fan boys telling me which race I should compete in. The fact of the matter is, I'm in the Bowerman Mile and you're gonna watch me whether you agree with it or not.
I don't think OP really understands the meaning of the phrase "salty"
Hey you millenials,
get off my lawn.
Salty is scaring me.
I like the confidence! Drew has earned it! There are always nay sayers, but based on the incredible accomplishments already achieved, and the tremendous momentum the past six months, I wouldn't be surprised at all, to see a sub 3:55... and who knows how much faster. Lay it on the line Drew!!!
*facepalm*. That's not Drew.

Depends how wide the camera angle is.

It's a Nike meet, so the athletes invited are going to be predominantly Nike athletes, unless they're a world beater like Bolt (Puma) or Rudisha (adidas) or there's a big rivalry (Rowbury (Nike)/Simpson (New Balance)). Leo runs for Hoka One One and is not the runner he was. Making the World Championship finals is not impressive enough.
The start list is good, but very similar to two years ago -- Manangoi is the only hot up and comer on this year's list.

Well, if it is you then you need to sprint right to the front from the beginning and try to hold onto the lead. If Kiprop tries to pass on the outside - swing way wide and cut him off! Lots of pushing and spiking will help! YOU POSSIBLY COULD RUN BETWEEN HIS LEGS AND CUT TO THE INSIDE IF THAT DOESNT WORK. Be bold, be free, stay fresh with Maxi!

1. 1:54-55 is 6-7 seconds off of Hunter's 800m PR, not a "few seconds"
2. The Australian guy "hanging out way in the back" was Ryan Gregson. Gregson is a 3:30 guy and global finalist.
3. Slagowski is two seconds slower than Hunter. Results don't lie. The fine folks at Pre can do whatever they want with the fields
