The reality of 250 million viewers is a made up stretch number that with an actual audit it would be far, far less.Im not sure why you would bring up boxing as a comparison, the fans of boxing will fill a venue to watch a prize fight and will spend $50 plus dollars to watch it on TV, over and over. Track fans do not, no matter the talent. We have a few exceptions but exceptions do not make a business for the sport.
The global audience is very narrow during non Olympic years. Track and Field will never be a major sport. We can argue it over and over, blame it on marketing, lack of prize money etc etc. The interested pool is small.
Tats on athletes as a point of marketability of the sport? Nick is a hawker with eccentric CEO who likes track spends a few bucks for notoriety and ego. Im not sure anybody would say this a is predictor for the sport.
