Recently got back into running fairly seriously and started back at around 30mpw. I increased my mileage gradually until I got up to about 60mpw.
As I'm training for a marathon I was planning further mileage increases but was conscious of getting injured. So I came across hokas and thought they were the answer to high mileage, no injuries. In fact, the opposite turned out to be true.
It didn't happen immediately but within about 2-3 weeks, I started to notice knee pain which I didn't initially link to my hokas. I took a few days off and returned again wearing my hokas only to find more knee pain. Cue frustration and 3 weeks off. I start back again and things felt better but within days the pain returns and my running action just feels odd.
So eventually I had a hard think and decided to go back to my previous trainers and within a couple of weeks, the pain gradually subsided and hasn't returned 2 months later.
Needless to say, the hokas have been torched.
My advice, careful how you go with these things. Maybe they benefit some but for others they are a disaster!
