Agreed. I love the work he does. All the haters are rather perplexing, not sure why they care so much. Unless they are cheaters themselves and are scared of getting caught.
I admit it. I cheated to get in the 2016 Boston Marathon. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I don't regret it one bit since I'll likely never get the chance to run it again.
I won't tell you how or where I qualified. Let's see if I make the list. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Exactly Howard. People who cheat are the worst. Except for the people who want to dwell on it like its a big deal, they are also the worst.
Right on Howard and Joe!!!!! That Trump is just the worst.

Hey Liz! What's up?!
Just wondering...with all of the revelations that have been brought to light with numerous investigations and articles why Gia is the only one (that I've heard of anyway) who has received a ban of any sort from any organization?
catch me if you can! wrote:

Love the lame 12 year old psychology going on for this thread. You should triple dog dare him to reveal the list. No way he can say no to a triple dog dare.
It does all confirm that people who cheat at marathons, and those that believe their lies, have the emotional development of children. It helps explains why they would cheat at marathons for validation.

Her cheating was at Boston itself. It was indistuable that someone else ran with her bib at Boston based on their photography. Then, since she used that person's Boston time to "qualify" for the next Boston Marathon it was irrefutable that she also had a fradulant BQ time.
Problem with the rest of these cheaters is that they usually cheat at some poduck marathon (like the VIA Lehigh Valley Marathon) and actually run the full distance at Boston. Thus, the BAA feels it is the qualifying race's issue, not theirs. These Podunk races are much easier to cheat at and they don't really care if someone does as long as they don't win.
Guys, it's not that hard. I spent about three hours today looking at finish times and bib numbers for this yesr's race. I then went to athlinks to find their likely qualifying race and just looked at splits from that race. In three hours I found 27 people who missed mats or had unreasonable splits. In other totes, they cheated.
I'm going to go through more this weekend. I bet I find over 100 more.

Okay, smart guy. Let's see some names.
how slow are you? wrote:
gracias wrote:No thanks, doubler. I've got a race this weekend.
You would find the names yourself but you're too busy doing a 10k. On Saturday. How long does it take you to run a 10k? Unless a 10k also takes so much out of you that all day Saturday and Sunday all you can do is lay in bed sleeping?
If you want the names, figure it out yourself. Sounds like you have an entire weekend to figure out at least some of the names, if you actually care.
There are no 10k's any more; only 'thons, halves & 5k's.
Finally some defamation wrote:
follow the money wrote:Could it be a shakedown situation? The cheater is contacted and told to give the accuser $xxx or he/she will be publicly shamed. If the cheater does not agree then his/her name gets posted. Cheater pays up, no post.
Finally, some real defamation. Alleging Derek is committing very serious crimes. Nice one. Hope you didn't use your home computer.
Just a heads up - the nastier you get, the guilter you look. Rossi had that going for him too.
WRONG!!!.
Derek is a public figure on this. He promotes himself and his site. The bar is too high.

Admittedly I haven't scoured the whole thread but I think he was framed! There is no way Chris Derek could have cheated his 10k PR...it was on a track, easily verifiable by everyone in the stands. I'm pretty sure he has GPS data to back it up as well.

I'm glad Doubler is doing what he's doing, but his results make me sad. I have a good friend, former college coach of mine, who ran his first marathon in 30 years to try to qualify for Boston to run with his daughter, who was already qualified. He beat his BQ time by 2:23, which turned out to be 5 seconds too slow. Had none of the cheaters gotten BQ bibs, I think it's more than possible that my buddy would have gotten in.
Tell you friend to run faster next time. Part of the issue is that the BAA messing around pm this issue instead of just lowering the Q times by 5 min.
I find it funny that people think they're entitled to see Derek's list, yet anyone can derive this list by following the criteria Derek lays out on his blog. If you want to know, do it yourself! (PS get a job you creeps). Perhaps Derek is reluctant to post a list, where a couple names could possibly be innocent/not have cheating intentions. I think that's why he's holding off, in addition that shaming is susceptible to going overboard with the creeps on Lets Run. Social media is bad for creating shallow labels. People can identify others by one label as a result, such as "that guy who does this", or "that woman who got caught doing that." These perspectives are ultimately incredibly shallow and likely do not represent what that person is truly about at all. Marlon may be "that guy who cheated in a marathon" according to some low level human, but is actually "the caring, loving, incredible father and human being" in the eyes of another, for example.
This highlights the problem of having one person in control. Everything Doubler does seems to be purely arbitrary. He releases some names, he releases other names.
He claims he wants to " out" people who are profiting, but remember he also "exposed" 1) an actor playing a role in a movie 2) a guy dressed as a superhero and 3) a dead guy. (he retracted some of them but it was after they were exposed) Clearly, none of those people were profiting from cheating.
That's what I don't like about this effort. Sure provide the evidence to the RDs then let them decide. There is this segment of the population that seem to want people torn down and Doubler seems to like playing the part of providing them info - at times. Then other times, he claims to take a moral high road.
Remember for all his exposing, as of today Mike Rossi is still listed as a finisher in the 2015 Boston Marathon. He still has his medal, etc.
Ultimate, he can do what he wants with the info. anyone can doe the same who has the spare time and they can out people if they see fit. I doubt we will be talking about this effort in a couple's years time.
and as I said before people will just get better at cheating.
So Derek should be immune from criticism? Sorry. He can just take the good and not the bad.

I don't think anyone is immune from criticism. Anyone can criticize anyone. Those that are challenging what Derek does have to be willing to have their ideas challenged as well.

And those that are challenging those that are challenging Derek are open to being challenged too.
