Jordan is building toward the Oly Trials to make a team. Pap just needed to run a good time.
Benghazi!
It's a conspiracy and cover up by the new world order.

Hasay got hurt. Couldn't run for a long time. It happens.
Pappas got 11th in a glorified time trial. Hasay made a US WC team. Both will get lapped in Rio (if they make it).
Compare their results at USATF championships and I don't think a case can be made yet that Pappas is nearly as good as Hasay.
The Olympic tourism stuff aside, I do admire Alexi for continuing to run and improve after leaving college. That is a great accomplishment in itself.

If she has already said that she is running for Greece, will Pappas be eligible to run at the US Olympic Trials (USATF Championships)? Not trying to hate but asking a legitimate question.

+1
some elites need year after year consistency to be fast...hasay seems to be one of them. When those elites get hurt they can take a long time to get back on track.
others don't need that consistency.

Hasay merely went for the standard... and she got it. Mission accomplished. We'll find out who is really better at the trials.

Alexi Pappas is not running the trials.

True indeed. I forgot about that.

See: Eric the eel, the 2004 Greek Olympic Baseball Team, Sarah Attar, etc.
There are two categories in my mind. Opportunists that are gaming the system, and pity entries for countries that don't have any actual Olympic caliber athletes.
Sometimes an athlete falls into both categories (Attar), but Pappas is just the opportunist in this scenario.
Not a huge deal, but would be a cleaner situation had she not competed in USA championships the past 4 years.
She has official citizenship and she has the standard. How is that gaming the system?
Gaming the system was the rich American couple who "skied" in the Winter Olympics for the tiny island nation in which they had invested millions. What Pappas is doing is a far cry from that. It may be opportunist, but it's a legitimate claim to citizenship as opposed to bought citizenship.
So if I coughed up a lot of cash, could I represent Vanuatu or Kiribati in the Olympics?
The Daily Mail version, so it's not exactly subtle.

They are both gaming the system. Actually the American couple at least had some connection to the country they skiied for unlike Alexi.
