New Syracuse school record over 800m. 1:50.17 by Palamar.
I still can't believe how slow their 800m school record is compared to the records over 1500/mile/3000/5000 and 10000.
Anyway, it's now much better than it was...

It's worth pointing out that Williams got the Olympic standard in the women's 800. It's only her 2nd year of full time 800 running (she ran 3 800s in 2014).
Men's 800. 51.52 for rabbit followed by Rutto and Engels. 119 mid to high at 600.Rutto, who was the NCAA runnerup indoors and is ranked #3 outdoors, powered away to victory. He basically led wire to wire ignoring the rabbit. Engels nipped the Learmonth for 2nd.

Sorry, missed that he ran 1:49.04 a couple of weeks ago... Still slow, but not as bad.
Sweet nothing important happens for a while. I'm going to watch Game of Thrones. Be back later.
race after race the ny/nj tc crew are running like garbage.
Rojo, why are you hating on good track and field?

How am I hating on it? I'm just not into watching scrimmages/pre-season stuff.I didn't know the schedule and thought some of the few events i care about were going to come in the middle of Game of thrones. thankfully , they won't.
I'm a huge NFL and MLB fan. I watch probably 140 MLB games a year and all 16 NFL games. I don't watch pre-season or practice. I'm not a combine guy. This is largely pre-season/practice.
If someone needed that standard (Lagat), then it's important and I'll watch ( or if they could break a collegiate record or something.) I want to see the men's 1500.
I don't know why anyone would want to watch heat 4 and 3 of the women's 5000 unless they were a parent or teammate.
Don't forget about Veep. Veep is good.

Preseason or minor league is a good analogy. People on this site love act like it's the Diamond League.
Championship football [2nd division in England that has a few really good players] is better analogy.
There is no pre season in track when top athletes race 5 times. It's a story line that builds. See where the top guys are at, what they're doing, who's the future? (ex: Stanford true soph runs 2:01!!?!). But if the voice of the sport is going to brush these races aside it's a good show of where the sport stands at.
Based on the results, looks like the heat is really affecting the athletes. Slow performances all around.
It's like 75 right now, not gonna slow down anything under 5k. If anything that's perfect mid distance weather

8:22 M steeple for 1-2 is not slow, considering how race was run. 9:29 W steeple was not slow for winner.
W800m was not slow.
If other times are slow-ish, it's because of level of competition and tactics, not the warmth.
Would affect 5000m and 10000m (probably) but will cool down by the elite races.
Temperature will cool significantly in the next 3 hours

Why has no one figured out a way to get a pirated stream from flotrack?
East coasters worried about running well past their bedtime could just stay on the east coast to race.
I don't think the quality of the meets that flotrack streams is quite high enough to warrant the attention of international pirates who run the video streaming sites.
The NFL Combine is a good comparison. You pay your own way and focus on your mark.

Sorry we are out of hors d'oeuvres. Funeral was 4 years ago.
HSer Christina Aragon won the 2nd heat of the women's 1500 in 4:11.24!!
She moves from #5 to #4 all time. She also beats the 4:12 time that Cain ran yesterday.
After the race, Aragon said, "I'm super psyched" at least twice. She said her goal was to make sure she beat the 4:16 time she ran last year.
