This picture always pops up on internet galleries, and I hate having to explain it every time.
Chepseba failed to qualify from that heat. Those guys on the ground? They did. He can look baddass all he wants, but the only reason he's able to walk like that is because he didn't run hard enough to advance.
I would think that a picture of Alex Viada "running a 4:17 mile" would make the list for sure
theres a subreddit for this stuff
I love this one of Coghlan winning the 5K. I think having lost out in 1980 he was so pumped that he knew with 120 meters to go no way anyone was outkicking him. http://www.juanjosemartinez.com.mx/Coghlan.html
that is my favorite of all time
pretty sure that was his last race and maybe the last day he was alive. all these years later it's still tough.

Nope, wrong top. Not sure when this pic was taken but it was not at his race.

This was after he fell and was trying to catch up right?
Nice!
Shorter at Cinque Mulini
The best photo is that one of Daniel Komen where his eyes are bright red and it is clear that he is doped to the gills. I don't have time to find it, but all of you know what I mean. He looks like a damn Formula One car in that picture.

I had to use the Wayback Machine to find it, but the photo of Christian Hesch at USA Outdoors in 2003 wearing boards shorts and a wife-beater is a true classic. Enjoy:
