Some people here are extremely uptight.
You implied that you didn't think much of him. First you asked who he was. Then you looked him up and found out who he was. Then you felt compelled to post that you are from the UK and that you don't know who he is even after looking him up. I replied that your standards for knowing who someone must be pretty high as Leer is faster than anyone you have over there except for Mo Farah.
Another reason people like Will Leer is because he was a D3 athlete. Many track & field fans in the US are former D3 athletes so they feel a connection to him.
