I'm 5'10, 140 lbs, and a D3 college long distance runner and eat 3200/day when training. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy eats 3,500 calories a day.
Jordan Hasay eats 5000 calories per day.
Troll? 3500 is pretty reasonable for someone running 120 mpw...

Or on the low end, honestly. Granted, Kenyan marathoners often live off of significantly less according to observational studies like this one:

if you upped your mileage to 120mpw, what do you think your daily cals would increase to?
I ate that yesterday, but not the day before.
Ebb and flow to my diet.
Call BS all you want. Here's an ideal: Write down what you THINK the right number of calories a day should be. Second: Actually run 120mpw and eat no more than that calorie allotment and let us know how you fare.
BTW ugali ain't no diet food If you ever made it yourself, you'd know that it's pretty calorically dense.
I was 5' 10" 140 pounds in college, many years ago. I took a health class and they had us track food for a week. 4000 calories a day. Not surprising. Was doing probably 80-100 mpw at the time.
In college, all you can eat cafeteria, already prepared food. Sure I probably ate close to 3500 calories. Out of college, buying groceries, no way. I'm cheap tho
you're overweight and don't run that many miles.you don't count in this discussion, tubby

6'-1 160 (156-7 when racing) i was eating 3500-4000 calories a day in college when running 60-70 mpweveryone is different and the more fit i get the less calories i need, but there are certainly periods of huge calorie burn during training where i never seem to be full.Now, I am early 30's and probably eat around 2,500 a day, but the day of a long run as well as the day after, i'm probably closer to 3,000-3,500

The guy in the story is almost 40 years old and you losers are talking about when you were 17 in college.
LMWAO
6'2" 170lbs age 56, about 2800-3000 calories/day
run 10-20mpw, swim 8000 yards, bike 30mi, walk 2-4hours
as a young man running 50-80mpw, certainly would have been eating more than 3500..
and,

"What's the nutrition secret of professional runners? It's not Paleo or gluten-free or vegan. It's that almost everyone who sustains high mileage for an extended time is a talented eater who does not restrict calories."
At the end of the day, it's all about your level of insulin resistance anyway. That is why some people can eat thousands of calories a day and never lose weight, while others instantly get fat if they eat anything but lean meats and salads. It's all hormonal, but the food companies don't want you to know that.
It's very easy to take in 3500 calories when you drink your tea with A LOT of white refined sugar and whole milk and eat UgaliA cup of Ugali is just under 500 calories. They eat a lot more than a cup a day. It's basically served with every meal.A quart of whole milk is 592 calories. They easily consume this in the large amounts of tea they drink daily.They add a ton of sugar....a ton. Like at least half a cup a day. That is just under 400 calories per day of just sugar.

3 Cokes or Pepsis have more than c400 calories, so that's not "a ton of sugar"
Where is what I ate the day of a 20 mile long run recently, totaling around 4000 calories. The meals are not obscene, and I'm not just pounding junk food.
Breakfast:
french toast (2 eggs, 4 slices of bread, syrup) -> 160+440+210, 810 total
orange juice -> 110 total
coffee with cream and sugar -> 50-100 calories
During run:
2 energy gels at 100 calories each -> 200 total
Post-run:
3 scoops of Endurox recovery drink -> 400 total
(late) Lunch:
8 oz. pasta with tomato sauce-> 800 total
1/4 cup cheese -> 120 total
Dinner:
Salmon, 8 oz. -> 350 total
Baked potato with butter -> 300 total
Broccoli with butter -> 50 total
Cadbury caramel egg for dessert -> 190
Pre-bed protein shake:
1 scoop whey protein -> 70
12 oz. whole milk -> 225
2 Tbs. peanut butter -> 210
1 banana -> 100
To cut weight I recently tracked calories for a few weeks. I'm 36, 6'0", 170, 8 percent body fat. I run 45-65 miles per week, averaging 7:30 pace, plus crosstraining & lifting. Generally very active.
I lose a couple pounds a week if I eat 2600-2900 per day. I seem to stay stable at 3500, gain at 4000 (which is not hard to eat without even snacking or eating junk - just be generous with the fats). When I was in college I ate a lot more than that and never weighed over 180 or had more than 10 percent body fat. I'm sure I would put away 4500/day, certainly in the winter, not even running high mileage.
