I love this guy. "Education has become a substitute for thinking about the future."

He should know.
Is the US college system a zero sum game?
What used to be, "education" is now merely credentialing.
Students from selective high schools have private tutors who write their essays for Princeton, and these tutors keep writing their essays all through university and grad school.
The US has such a fetish for, "elite" schools that it has lost track of the purpose of education - teaching students to be able to teach themselves.

Yes.
FIFA is more corrupt than the U.S. college system.
I'm very glad that we (collective use) are starting to have this conversation about the need for college, it's worth, it's usefulness, and it's cost.
I contend that the reason for this push for college that started back in the 80's isn't some big conspiracy, it's a reaction to our terribly failing HSs. Due to a number of social factors HSs now are so dumbed down and remedial that in order for a person to receive any degree of education they have to get out of the public schools, and go to college.
Didn't even break 16.
But don't worry, 6 x 4 min fartlek will take care of that.

You're completely clueless if you think that's how it unfolds...
I like this one. "If you are the Pres. of Yale or Harvard and want to get a lynch mob after you, tell your alumni that you plan on tripling the enrollment over the next few years. "

You offended him therefore you're clueless. That's how it works on today's college campuses.
The 1500's Catholic Church was screwed once the printing press allowed everybody to read the Bible.
Now that you can download lecture videos from Stanford and course notes and tests from MIT, the education is free. Only thing left to sell is the credential and the rite of passage college "experience." They are equally screwed.
F*** college, everything is built around it when its not always needed. Never attended and now I'm making earning okay as an engineer in one of the top IT companies.
