VERY few people ran the tangents at Boston. Of course there was a good headwind for the last 8 or so miles which could been the reason for this but I wanted to run the last possible.

I think I can say my rankings are the same.
Staying in the draft will save you more energy than running tangents.
Especially given that the 1 sec/lap aphorism assumes a headwind and then tailwind. Boston was headwind the whole way.

Good debate. For regular runners, it would be stay with the pace group or run tangents. I guess it depends on the wind?
