I don't understand how these announcers hold their job.
I don't understand how these announcers hold their job.
Shalane is commentating on the nbc feed. It is so much more enjoyable than listening to Rawson. I could only take 2 minutes of him, before I had to find an nbc feed.
Anyone have Tim Hutchings phone number? Email it to me
I'll text him splits from Rojo in the media room. The timing is not working well online and believe it or not those are the splits the TV guys use.
I just tried texting Masback but he's not checking his phone.
Shalane just called the weather "a perfect day" and can't understand the slow pace. Expecting a big pick up in the last 10K

I don't know what you want to hear? They have to fill 3 hrs of coverage of skinny east africans running. WTF do you want to hear?
Top American women were running together at halfway
1 Spence Gracey, Neely and Crouch, Sarah (USA) hit halfway in 1:17:03
For the US men
Mecheso, Girma (USA) hit halfway in 01:07:46
The guy I used to coach - Hine, Zachary hit it in 01:08:01 !!! He wasn't even considered an elite by John Hancock and yet he's beating Ian BUrrlel 01:08:28

They ripped the Japanese guy or going out too fast and predicted a quick demise - which happened. They lamented that anyone can go out strong in a big city marathon to experience the lead and media attention.
Yeah, some quality announcing. F*cked if you do, f*cked if you don't.
rojo coaching lessons have long lasting impacts, apparently.

I'm listening to the BAA feed while watching NBCSN on mute. I switch it for the athlete interviews
Rawson finally decides to look at the weather....calling out temperature in Celcius? I imagine the executive producers HATE his announcing. He seems to just talk stream of conscious rather than even remotely think about his audience...
Flomena Daniel has been dropped. Down to three.

Says 'loading' then just black screen.

Have you listened to any other sporting event? 3 hours of analysis. Not misreported statistics and terrible comparisons/metaphors.
You make it sound like it is impossible to do a good job, like there isn't enough to talk about. Twitch Livestreams of bros playing call of duty come with deeper analysis than these guys are bringing.
There are 20 men worth talking about. Go through their strengths and weakness. Who's on the upswing, who's on the downswing. Even reading the brojo's preview outloud could take 15 minutes with good delivery. Do the same for the women. Then talk about the course. Then talk about who is still in the pack, and how they look. Talk about who looks ragged and who looks relaxed, and who looks like they want to attack. Talk about whether they should attack or not, yet. Talk about past races where moves this far out were successful or not successful. Talk about the difference in tactics between running to win and running to place as best you can. Talk about the shoes their wearing. Talk about the sponsor's with athletes in the top, and the relative competition between brands. Talk about the fueling strategies, talk about who's stayed out of the wind. Talk about who is looking at their watch every mile and who is reacting to the racing. Talk about who is training partners with whom, and who is coached by whom, or managed by whom. Talk about age. Talk about how many marathons someone has run, and how many Bostons someone has run. Talk about doping. Talk about not talking about doping. Talk about what is happening in the godda mn race and the competitors in it.
Love the Scott Jurek commercial. Big time.
"he's thrown the cat amoungst the pigeons" I like that.
The guy who had the lead briefly around 1:17 mark was Cuthbert Nyasango - 2:09:52 (2014 Prague) Zimbabwe 7th at ’12 Olympics but only 23rd at Worlds in August.
Now desisa is going ot the front ate the 1:18:30 mark!!!
(just broke for lunch).
1:24: and it's a 2 person race.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
