Ok, so about a week ago I felt a little stiffness on my left foot, near the inside rear part of the heel. It's not really near the achilles tendon, more toward the bottom of the foot. Here is a pic with a crudely drawn arrow to where I am talking about
Anyways its more painful in the mornings, after I walk on it it loosens up and it doesn't really hurt at all unless I sit for a long period of time. After running it flares up quite a bit. I've been running in hard backed shoes with heel counters and everything I've read says to switch to soft back shoes.
(Also, I've been to a podiatrist, he took x-rays, says there is nothing majorly wrong and that I do have a small bone spur and mild tendonitis. He recommend ice, and eccentric heel drops.)
After researching I am unsure if I should have a very excessive heel drop and I've been researching the New Balance 1400's as they seem to have a decent heel drop, but I can't find out if they are soft backed shoes or not.
Can anyone with this condition recommend me a good running shoe, I do prefer a higher heel drop, but I am open to all recommendations and please list why you recommend them.
Also rest isn't an option I start the Police academy in a month and have to train with officers starting Monday to prepare for it.
Thanks so much!
Shaun
