KB held onto ~world record pace for about 15 miles... And still ended up with a 2:06. This performance is on par with his 2:05 debut, if not a little better. I hope he gets a good block of training in for Rio

Agreed. If he ran a 1:02:xx first half, he might have been able to break 2:05.
So, now we have it! I asked the simple question can KB go top three in London, and the majority of the replies I got treated this question as little more than a joke. Well, guess what? He did it! In arguably the most competitive marathon on the planet. Having not raced in over a year.....having prepared no where nearly as much as one would expect of an athlete at that level.....at the age of 33....after 5 years of injuries coupled with sporadic training. Bekele is the greatest distance runner of all time. End of thread!
I heard he ran 2:03 on a practice run in Germany last summer.
Expect Great Things!

I heard he was driving Robert Young's RV in his trans-American run. Expect a sport change from Bekele.

I heard he is banned from the roads for scorching the asphalt on training runs. Expect great things.

You forgot 'expect great things'.
On a serious note, Wilson Kipsang will be there too and a few other top men. Knowing his (Bekele) history when it comes to the marathons, it is highly unlikely that he finishes.
Just in case he does, it is highly unlikely that he finishes in the top three.

You didn't see the post about him dropping out because of a stress fracture?

My point is that if I were a betting man, and I don't bet, I wouldn't bet on Bekele............Somehow, something will happen and he will end up short.
That is all I am saying.
I am Bekele. Expect great things.
With his XC pedigree and not being able to handle hard workouts. I think it is time he tries trail running. Bekele Western States 2020. Brojos make it happen. Make Bekele Great Again!
