sounds like you must have been there? Plenty of reasons to rip the woman to shreds to save Kobe.

Classic misogynistic response in defence of a rapist: slut shaming and victim blaming "she had it coming" "she was a slut"You're pathetic man. Also yes I'm repeating myself - the point being for every page that touts Kobe as such a great person I want people to be reminded of just what a crappy human being he was.

LOL, everyone knows that was consensual and she'd have gotten laughed out of court. She was bragging about it afterwards, until she realized she'd look like a slut. And I'm not a fan of Kobe by any means.
By the way, at least use a sockpuppet next time instead of just repeating the same thing every few posts. We're on Letsrun, it's not exactly hard.

Also he raped a girl in 2003 - bought her off and kept himself out of prison. But by all means, totally forget about what a crappy human being he is and keep supporting entitled criminal athletes
We all know that's false.
Yes - the fan boys keep saying "we all know that is false". I'm sure that's why he settled with her and publicly apologized....

What does settling and apologizing have to do with whether or not he actually raped her? You really aren't making any good points here.
Diego Maradona should be up on that list

You're right. Here's an updated one. Sorry folks had to drop Galen Rupp for now. But I'm sure after a couple of Olympic marathon golds he'll be back on the list.
1. Kobe Bryant
2. Muhammad Ali
3. Jesse Owens
4. Pele
5. Don Bradman
6. Sachin Tendulkar
7. Tiger Woods
8. Wayne Gretzky
9. Michael Jordan
10. Diego Maradona (was Galen Rupp)

Kobe is an egocentric adulterer and at times a piss poor teammate. Also one of the most competitive and successful athletes on the planet. He is not a rapist.
We agree. He didn't rape those girls.
You really don't get how? Because they can afford better lawyers. Or, in Kobe's case, they can pay the victim enough that they will shut up. Money, money, money.

Maybe they aren't brainwashed like 1/2 Americans that think it's cool for pro athletes to get away with anything. He is a rapist. If you or I did the same thing we would still be (or should be) in prison. Do people just forget this stuff? I don't get how people like Kobe, Mike Tyson etc. can get away with rape & battery and still be able to keep sponsors, get movie deals and be celebrated athletes.

True that. Money can buy anything in America. George W Bush's wife Laura got away with killing someone while driving DUI all thanks to the power of big money. You go try doing that and you'll go to jail.

Game was a joke, a faux Kobe showcase for all the ass-kissing Hollywood types.,,, "feed me the ball and opponent don't play D" orders that came down from the Commissioners office.
- His teammates definitely told him before the game to take was many shots as he wanted. Why not? They talked about it after the game. Besides, he shot 44% and hit like 6 clutch shots in a row. He was clearly exhausted too after playing like 40 minutes.
- Hayward 'accepted the challenge' of guarding Kobe. He was absolutely giving a full effort on every play. Dude was sweating bullets. This will probably be a memory that he rambles on to his grandchildren about (minus the loss)
This was already addressed earlier in the thread, but I'll point it out again: Utah was already out of the playoffs before this game started by virtue of Houston's earlier win. As others have said, they weren't playing for anything (and knew it) and looked like the Washington Generals in the 4th quarter. This was an exhibition, and I love that Kobe gave us a final demo of his selfishness by chucking a record number of shots. Classic Kobe to the end...
The media has attempted to make a big deal out of his effort, but most of us don't care. The media also tends to celebrate mere participants in marathons, even if they take a pedestrian 4+ hours to complete their races.
Kobe took 50 shots, nearly 59% of his team's shots, but only made 22 of them. Hardly a Herculean effort by any measure... He was obviously just chucking the ball up whenever he had it in a selfish effort to pad his own stat line

It definitely had a "Globetrotters vs The Generals" feel to it. That said it was a an entertaining game.
There is no doubt that the players were in on it, whether consciously or subconsciously but, sort of surprisingly, so were the refs. Did anyone notice Kobe's push off with under a minute to play? The refs call that and no win, no 60 points and we're all left with the feeling that we just wasted our time.
But they didn't and all was right with the World - at the expense of the Game itself.
When a "sporting" event is staged like this was I don't find that entertaining. This just leads credence to claims that ALL high profile NBA games are staged or manipulated. Notice how NBA superSTARS teams always make it to NBA finals......Steph, Lebron (5 times).
This (Lakers VS Jazz) did nothing for NBA credibility.
20 years in the NBA. Incredible. Just to make it to the NBA is a tremendous feat. To play 20 years. Wow.

I agree with your point, but Kevin Willis played 21 seasons, and he's not a top 100 in the GOAT list.
In the same lines, Cliff Robinson played more games than Kobe, and he wasn't a superstar.
Furthermore: Kobe, Garnett, T-Mac and Lebron (among others) didn't have the "at least 1 year in the NCAA" rule entering in the NBA draft.
So, is not that Kobe is a top 5 in the GOAT list because of his durability and stamina. Remember, he almost missed a complete season in his last 3 seasons due to injuries.
Probably the magic number is not the 20 seasons, but the numbers , the individual records, and the NBA titles in that 20 seasons.
