I like hot yoga, but I also like saunas. It's just nice if you like being hot.
Plus I think overheating has some training benefits, even if you're not running at the time.

http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=6249301&page=1If you really want to be flexible and get rid of knots and trigger points, you should hang upside down by your ankles and flail around until everything's loose. Turn gravity backwards basically.

What exactly sre these "toxins" that are supposedly being sweat out?
Any hotties in your yoga class? Any single ones?
Hot yoga is a waist of time. The point of yoga is to loosen up your muscles and loose a little body fat. The heat or the yoga will do that on its own. COLD yoga is far more beneficial because you have to loosen up muscles that are still tight from being cold. I hope you are not actually paying to do this.
On the other hand being in a room full of middle age overweight women jiggling around a couple hours can't be all bad.
Wejo, are you trying to lose weight with hot yoga? You are fighting an uphill battle. Just run more and eat less.
Who? Pics or it didn't happen.
There's a ton of interesting, legit research going on lately about the effects of regular heat stress too. http://fourhourworkweek.com/2014/04/10/saunas-hyperthermic-conditioning-2/
I recently did a 90 minute bikram yoga session. The room was heated to 105 degrees plus himdidity.
It was awful.
For a first timer, it was way too much.
Also, as a runner, do not do a workout within two days of it. You feel awful when you try to exercise after.

I was talking to a friend of mine today and mentioned I had to go to "hot yoga". He nearly fell out of his chair and then said "how about you post that on you forums?".
So I am posting.
So far so good, seems great for my core and flexibility.
Until 2 weeks ago I didn't know what hot yoga was.
I was just trying to do regular yoga and called the two yoga places closest to me. The hot yoga place called me back.
And I know none of you were in my class today because I was the only male.
First thought... Unless you are going with your wife... You're surfing to cheat on your wife.
As homely as you are, probably even you can get laid at hot yoga.
20,000 dollar question:ARE YOU GOING BACK?

Well I'm a single so I don't have to worry about cheating on my wife. Hadn't really thought about if I was still married if I might be more uncomfortable in the class.
With yoga there are a lot of fit women not wearing a lot of clothes. So the temptation is on display right in front of you. I'm surprised there aren't more men in my class.
The decision to cheat is a decision.
There was that thread a while back whether it was inappropriate for a married person to run consistently with someone of the other sex. Opinions were mixed. The difference I can see with running is there is a lot of emotional intimacy that can develop on a run as you are talking for an hour. With yoga it's more primal as there isn't a lot of talking. I'm sure there are married men who handle yoga just fine. Feel free to chime in.

I suppose if I started shopping at Whole Foods I'd be paranoid like you and subscribe to every quackery-smackdoodle myth too. Since I've never ever seen a healthy person walk out of a health foods store, no thanks, I'm going to avoid that place.
Since I don't have mercury poisoning, don't know anyone who has ever had mercury poisoning, and know that my liver and kidneys are functioning perfectly, I'll ignore your superstitious paranoia.
Here, YOU try to keep up misinformed hippy boy.
