running IS weight bearing BUT wrote:

I'm 150s and thin enough, but taller than you. I went to 140s and felt the strength loss. I can't imagine being much lighter, although the tables say I could go to 140 for my height near sixfeet. I'll stay around 20BMI, which seems ideal for me.
This doesn't apply for your height but the difference between 165 and 155 for me was night and day. At 155, feel like I'm floating on runs. At 165, more of a struggle. At 148, however, I just felt bad. Bottom line, don't lose too much weight. Let it come naturally. Also, I wouldn't stay at race weight year round or obsess about it. That's where problems start.
Good input, thanks for sharing. I promised my other half that if I ever dip below 140 it'll be "just" for the race to try and achieve my goal. But I may need to break that promise if I need to be much lighter to handle the mileage.
You're right about not being there year round though. I looked gaunt at 140, don't fit in suits anymore, my size 30 jeans are too big and people asked me if I were sick last year. I liked the six pack then but nothing else. It was also a struggle to get there, and body didn't want to stay there (spiked up 15 lbs in less than a month shortly after --- I like food)
You are also right about the 10lbs being night and day. It's tough, I'll take it slowly. Perhaps in time and with mileage I'll be 125-130 and think of my former self as a whale :)
