Yeah, sorry, I worded that poorly. You are correct.

What ever happened to Johnny Crain? The guys who finished first, second, fourth, and fifth in that race are all big-name national elites. Does Crain even run anymore?
Great performance. What'll be his best event in the future?

Crain paced Ian's heat for 4 miles.

BTW, that's a different John Crain. The John Crain from North Central University is... well let's say the freshman 15 hit him after college. He's gained some weight. Not sure if he still jogs.

Let's not give North Central College a grad program it doesn't have here...

His coach, Tom Antzak, thinks he can be an elite marathoner and that the 2020 US Trials are a reasonable goal. Antzak, who placed 5th at NY and 12th
at Boston during his competitive years, has the bona fides to recognize elite marathon talent.
So 16 laps and 36+ meters?

Lamere's 10k PR is now in line with or faster than guys like Jared Ward (now an Olympian in the marathon), Parker Stinson, Craig Lutz, Futsum Zienasellassie, and Edward Cheserek. It would also be top 10 in DI for at least the past 5 years.
Great run.
Crain is finishing up the grad assistant position at Oklahoma University and has signed with Zap Fitness so he will be joining that group after he graduates this spring.

He was offered a position at Zap, but he ended up turning it down for a life in academia. He decided that the graduate program at the prestigious Oklahoma University afforded him opportunities he didn't know were possibly coming from North Central University, and as a result, he is now a researcher. True story.
Yeh, Slow Heath Ledger Clap, you right.
Jonny C, some guy called Johnny Crain was pacing - stop trolling!
ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL
ZERO -YES- ZERO!!! Mentions of LaMere's run in the BroJos week that was. Considering this kid would dust all the Cornell and Yalies by about 200m, you guys should consider mentioning him.
time to unclench and see what you got there. I think it's a diamond.

Way more than 200m, I don't think Cornell or Yale have ever had a kid running 29:0X....
So it's shameful, I agree.
John Crain should have been highlighted for wasted potential.
Bush did 9/11.
won't be long til Martin Smith or Cory Ihmels tries to pluck him away from his current school. #cheaters
Pretty unreal. I was second to Maeir when he ran that 28:48. I was a 14:19 5000m runner and he lapped me at about the 4 mile mark of the 10k after I went out in 15:06. He was alone for all 25 laps.
The coaches association has a nice article out on LaMere today:

The guy is basically working full time this year and still running that fast (he's got an engineering co-op). Last 5k was 14:06. Super impressive.

Just to clarify--14:06 was his second half split in his 28:38 10K. I know that's what you meant but wanted to clarify for others.
is there a video anywhere of this race?
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
