For the record, UW Platteville's Ian Lamere ran a D3 record 28:38 at Stanford, fastest time among collegians and validation for his inclusion in the race. Talent is talent regardless of the size/division of the school attended.

Ian wiped the floor with heat 2. Absolutely destroyed guys who have incredible coaches, facilities, and training partners.

I think we can agree that he has incredible coaches, judging by his improvement and incredible run.
As a UWP alum, I can tell you Coach Antczak is a great coach. He's great at helping runners develop.
My "talent is talent' comment includes coaching talent as well as running talent. Lamere hasn't reached this level on innate talent alone; he's worked hard under excellent coaching.
Bijan -10th in the 5k.
Another whiner from and elitist D3 school with a culture of entitlement.
"I am on a smooth glide path for a Wall St/Consulting job. I a decent (but unremarkable) D3 runner. I deserve the same deference with regard to meet entries if my choosing."
The shock of being denied what he thought was his birthright was too much? SF State is beneath him?
This thread is nonsense.

Bijan didn't whine, he stated facts and tried to make the best of his situation.
Wasn't his best race, but so what? He did what he said he was going to do; go to the Distance Carnival and try to run fast.
Ultimately Stanford's decision to omit Bijan is still questionable, but at this point I'm sure he is only looking forward to the rest of the season, not dwelling on whether the Stanford meet director was in the right or wrong.
Questionable because they kept a mid-pack scrub out of the last section?
If a guy from eg UC Davis didn't make the cut, he'd suck it up and run another meet, and know that regardless he has to perform without excuse.
It must be great to be so much smarter than professionals who have been running large meets for decades.
The number of assumptions you're making about some kid you've never met is incredible. I dont think any of us can deny that Stanford displays some favoritism towards big D1 schools. Personally, that would frustrate me if my times were better than many of the guys who made it in. Also, isn't Stanford's rejection of smaller D3 schools a little elitist? I dunno man, you sound a little salty to me.
Why didn't you go to Raleigh Relays past weekend?
Winning time was 29:01

Because he was planning on running at Stanford, are you stupid?
I posted on this thread to connect with the original poster about running the 5k at SF, which was a great field despite not being the competitive 10k we had hoped for. Unfortunately it was rather warm at 4pm and I didn't have my best race.
And no I'm not consulting or ibanking next year.
I'm sorry I thought anything productive would come from this website. I should not have posted my name.

I don't think you did anything wrong by posting here. But rather warm!?! It was in the 60s over at SF State Friday afternoon. The stadium is also well protected so it generally is a good place to run. I don't buy this excuse at all.
Geez, the kid had a bad day. We've all had them occasionally. He didn't bring this sort of vitriol on himself, he was trying to make the best of a tough situation. That's what we try to teach young people to do. Some people are jumping his case without reading/comprehending his position.
Bijan--don't let the few jerks here deter you from further posting.
It's not an excuse, I wasn't running

Winner winner chicken dinner!
Why take this gripe public? In a small but possibly meaningful way, you have tarnished Williams in the eyes of the meet directors, and made it that much more difficult for other D3 runners, and especially Williams runners, to get in the meet.
Maybe that was Dijon's plan all along. So fed up with having a purple cow for a mascot that he wanted to sabatoge future Ephs. #scheming
This is all ridiculous. It's impossibly frustrating to see people blow everything as out of proportion as has happened on this thread. Chill out.
Dude, if the Stanford meet director goes on letsrun, I would eat my shorts. Bijan's case won't change anything one way or the other
