Did you know that the meet is called the Stanford INVITATIONAL for a reason?
It's their meet, so it's their call.

Don't you have a teammate who is about the same level as you? You guys can trade the lead back and forth at Princeton and be just fine. I think it's often easier to run fast in a smaller group anyways rather than in a huge field.

There's not much I can do at this point. If Stanford had been a little more objective, the SF meet would have had a lot of people in my position with similar past performances, but that does not seem to be the case. I'm going to run the SF 5k and run as fast as I can in whatever field the Princeton 10k gives me.
Which Princeton meet? Larry Ellis or Sam Howell?
Larry Ellis usually has a good field, considering how many local pros often will compete at their track - try reaching out to the meet directors and see if they can help at all. Worth a shot.
The issue is not small schools versus big schools, a lot of it has to do with who you know. Most coaches at your top schools all know each other, coaches in the same conference usually know each other on a first name basis. (Relationships matters) This is a fact of life and it happens at all levels, even DL meets. The point is, no one is against, they just aren't for you.
That's why the Mt Sac Relays Distance Carnival is the premiere time trial today with eight 10Ks, yes that's 8.
Bijan, your javelin PR of 19.42m is JV... that is my guess why they didn't let you in... keep throwing, and one day they will let you into the meet...

MT.SAC!! MT.SAC!! MT.SAC!! MT.SAC!! MT.SAC!!
MT.SAC 10K Guys..
I know some few guys left out of Stanford that are running MT.SAC 10k, and they are all sub-29.
LEAVE F..ing Stanford alone, let's put together together a good 10k at MT.SAC!!

Bijan, when does your album come out?

I noticed that Bijan is in New England, and ECAC DIII area. my coach was talking about getting some of our runners into a high caliber meet at Cornell soon. Bijan if youre within driving range from middle New York then why not to race there instead of flying cross country?
As someone who coached at Cornell for 10 years, it's very windy on the east coast in the spring until the sun sets. So I'd say go somewhere that they are racing at night.
The best distance races on the east coast were the Bucknell distance races (which might be a bit far from NE i guess) at night and the Princeton races at night.
We occasionally would do a 10k at night with the Syracuase boys. It looks like they are going to do that for other events this year which is nice. Hope it works out.

AT least La La Land has the hotels, AirBnB rentouts, and airports to handle eight elite 10Ks, and twelve elite 5Ks

further discussion:
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=4708511Stanford's lesser treatment of Non DI teams has been obvious for some time. Whether it's not making the fields at all, or the blatant disrespect to a real seed time. These days its so much easier to look up actual marks that athletes run and yet they continue to place superior athletes from lesser divisions into slower heats. One of my runners this year (from a non DI school) has a faster legit tffrs seed time (run in the past year), than everyone in the head ahead of him/her. It's blatant discrimination, but what can you do? As has been mentioned many times previous, you have to play the game. But running faster, doesn't always help unfortunately.
D1 coaches might want to check Bijan out a little more closely if he has any remaining eligibility. He has the grades and experience to win a graduate fellowship at most if not all of the institutions with major programs.

Possibly he's a DNS because the winning time is slower than his PR and he already said several times in this thread that he's running the 5k.
If you're shooting for 28:50s, you're not gonna fly around the country just to run with guys with PRs in the 29:50 range.
Also, Bijan didn't start this thread, he only posted on it to ask if the guy who started it wanted to join him in the 5k.
I would imagine Grant Fischer is disappointed with that effort
