I work at my home office as a business consultant.
I was in the hospital for eight days and my first day back to work I get an email saying that I am let go and I can schedule a call to talk with the boss.
So the boss and I talked and he asked me to summarize my work so I can hand it off to him. I agreed even though I knew I was not going to get paid for the four hours it will take me to complete the task. But I did it anyway.
Then a week later I get another email from my boss wanting me to summarize a client that I worked on but was not included on the day I was let go.
I did not respond to the email. Three days after the email the bosses secretary called me and left a message saying that the boss sent and email and you might have missed it. Please give us a summary of your work for XXX client.
I did not respond to the voice mail message.
Would you respond and do the extra work for free?
By the way, I found another job that pays a lot more.
