Knew a guy in the army, last name of Sargent. Everyone thought it was a spelling error.
Knew another guy in the army, last name Zube (pronounce "zoo-bee"), which, if'n you get sent to the Middle East (which he was), becomes *very* funny.
Met a kid with the last name Solzhenitsyn, which I though was funny till I figured out his grandfather was, indeed, Aleksandr (whoops).
I just though of a couple more.
There were two brothers from around here named Lemonjello and Orangejello (pronounced O-ron-ja-low and Lem-on-ja-low). Not kidding.
I met a guy the other day who had named his son Yale (he told me he hoped it would someday be a college "hook"); I hope he was kidding.

20+ years ago, two ladies at work gave birth about a week apart. The boy baby was named Colby and the girl baby Brie. I was the only person out of about 40 people at work who picked up on it. I never said a word.
my battalion S-shop in the Army had a Captain Payne...I couldn't wait for that guy to get promoted to Major, but alas I never witnessed it.
