Yes, they will be burnt out, but as has been discussed before, that is by design, given the California schedule.
The Cali boys don't need the dream mile. Depth wise, this race was just as fast as the dream mile. And the Arcadia 3200m 2 weeks later will be faster depth wise than any later national meet. Then big meets like Mt. Sac and the OC champs. The end of season for them is the well documented brutal few weeks that is the California qualifiers/state meet. It doesn't make sense to try to peak for something after the Cal state meet.
This is not meant to be an excuse or a complaint. The reality is Ca. has no indoor season, the outdoor season starts early and with highly competitive meets early and is continuous for several weeks. It doesn't align that well with the east coast schedule or national meets, but so what? They have more than enough ultra competitive meets on their schedule. Just accept it and enjoy the fast races, whatever date they occur.
