I saw the last WR holder for a suit and he had a flexible custom made light and sweat wicking "suit". Yuki's suit looks like the real deal. A stiff suit.
The previous record was also very very soft. Hoggy jogger soft, to be honest. 95 minutes!?
This should put the suit record away for good, and we can thank Yuki for that. No one is going to bother with this record any more, and that is a good thing, IMO.

There is already a sub category for women's world records. Should there be a subcategory for a woman in a suit or dress?
There is no reason why not: the sport already has women subcategories, under age 20 categories, over age 40 categories, and paraolympic categories etc etc to give competitors a fair shot at winning something. And that is good. The sport should continue to expand in its diversity of categories for competitors, it would be another very positive development..

Kawauchi followed up his world record with another marathon last weekend:
2nd place in 2h 14 mins 12 secs for 2nd place at the Taipei city marathon in Taiwan.

This is his 3rd marathon of 2016. After his last 3 or 4 years the question is how long can he keep this up? He does not seem to be getting any major injuries so far but how long will he be able to sustain this high level of week-in week-out competition?

Yuki seems like a bit of a headcase. He believes in amateur sport in an age where everyone else is a professional. He's the kind of guy who would watch ncaa basketball, but not enjoy the nba. Because of this belief he has chosen to not take money for placing in races. At the same time, if he performs poorly, he can say "I'm just an amateur". If he's happy though, so what, we can keep watching him and hope he has another breakthrough to make the Japanese team again.
Where did you read that? Unless he's changed his tune, he accepts prize money but not appearance fees.
But Kawauchi is not a full-time athlete. He's got an office job. He works about 40 hours a week. He collects prize money from races but refuses sponsorships or appearance fees (as a government employee, he is forbidden from receiving income from other jobs).
There's something flat out funny about a man running really fast in a suit. That's what matters.

I would not say that he is a head case on this point. He actually has a good point about amateur sport being the way to go given all the drug problems that have been unveiled in professional track and field. If there were more amateurs like Kawauchi at the top level, the sport would likely be much more popular because the everyman would be much better able to relate to a guy like Yuki.
