Hill might well have won the race at any pace, though Lagat and Jenkins, as well as Chelimo of course, would have been dangerous in the kick. The pacing made it fun to watch, no doubt. At World's, Hill will likely have guys running at or around 7:40 pace to key off. His issue is whether he has the confidence to be in the top two when the time to kick arrives. Americans at their best typically lack that confidence and put themselves out of contention for the win when the race is at a pace they can handle. But even if he leads at the bell, Hill will have a lot to do to stay with guys like Kejelcha, Ndiku, and possibly Iguider. Mark my words: the winner will go sub 26 on the last lap.
