No matter what they took, that is impressive.

So what? Brian Lawlor did 10x400 in 46.
Your name has it right. Recovery makes a big difference in how impressive this workout it. I would assume they did this with a pretty long recovery, maybe 10 minutes.
At any rate, a solid finishing workout for an 800m guy.
PB = 46.83 from 2011

46.3 in training is very, very fast. Think that Coe never ran a flat 400m faster than 46.8. Backing it up with a 47.4 is impressive. This is even assuming a 10-15 minute break between. Even up to 20 minutes this is impressive.
He must be in 1:44 shape at least.

I don't know who that is.
But 2x400 at that pace, the more south of 10:00 the rest is, the more incredible.
that can't be real wrote:

He's the greatest all around runner in the world, of course.

Not saying he didn't do it, but anyone can say they ran 46.3 in training.

WHO, never heard of him.
10 x 400 in 46, what in a SEASON,
No way ANYONE runs 10 x 400 in a workout not even Michael Johnson in his PRIME.
Cant even find a Brian Lawlor in the extensive Tilastopaja database.
Considering that with a presumed rolling start, that is a PR by a few tenths, and he is in much better shape than 5 years ago. The 47 follow-up is very nice, I expect he is in 45-mid/1:44 shape, which is supported by his recent 600.

Coe's fastest in an open race was 46.8, we have no idea what he did in training in peak form. He also ran a few legs in 45 mid.
Berian's time was probably off a rolling start, but still v impressive. The key to how impressive this training run was depends on the recovery between each run.

Exactly.

just shut up, man. give it a rest. I'm sure you're loads of fun at parties.
I'm guessing a 30 minute rest, maybe longer.

I would think up to 5-10m personally. No more, though.

If he did this off 5 minutes then he could break the world record in my opinion.
As a sprint-driven 800 guy, he needed 15 min. for sure, maybe 20. 46 is a ton of lactate to clear.
