I've been fortunate: 54 years running, missed less than 30 days due to injury.
I've only had occasional:
Hamstring strains
Quad strains
I do seem to be getting more of these, now that I'm in my 60s. But I still love training and racing. When I get a little ding, I'm careful to back off and not turn a minor injury into a major one.

Bump thread, Not one for pityparties but this concept is a fact of this sport - as well as any sport.
I would also add that running is a very injury-oriented sport. I have never been injured in any other type of exercise...not even once.
Metatarsal stress fracture
Tibia stress fracture
Plantar facsitiis
Achilles tendonitis
Calf strain
Have had all of these multiple times.
Soleus muscle tear (left leg)
Shin + tibia stress fracture (left leg)
Achilles tendinitis (left leg)
Minor Hip Tear (right leg)
5 years
31 years
Patellar tendonits
several ankle twists
16 years
I have been pretty lucky but the last 4 years have been rough, though I have set my prs at 1 mile 3k 5k and 5 mile.
Sprained my ankle twice- out about 3 weeks at a time
It band syndrome- out 3months
General runners knee
Off and on plantar fascitis
Currently I'm slowly coming back from a tibial stress fracture that I was out 5 months with
IT band inflammation
upper hamstring tear
groin strain
hamstring issue has persisted for yearrsss
27 yo, and have competed for about 17 of those
30 years
Shin splits
PF
pulled muscle in my butt/glute – out six weeks
mild osteoarthritis in one knee
calf issues, which shut me down from 2 days to a week
some lower back issues, which will also shut me down for up to a week
sprained a few ankles, of course
I feel lucky compared to most
Started running in 1997, freshman year of High School. Had a total of 0 running-related injuries between 1997-2010.
From 2010-2016, I've had more injured months than healthy. Haven't been healthy for more than a few months at a time.
Been running around 35 years, with some other sports mixed in.
It would be hard to compile a complete list of running injuries.
plantar fasciitis
a couple of ankle sprains (from tripping on something)
IT "snapping hip syndrome"
sartorius muscle tear
piriformis syndrome (comes and goes)
neuroma
3x metatarsal stress fractures
cuboid stress fracture
upper hamstring strain (chronic and occasionally rising to the level of taking time off)
flexor hallucis longus tendon rupture
calf muscle tear
lower back strain
I'm still racing.
More importantly, how many of these are self-diagnosed?

meniscus tear
ankle sprain
achilles tendonitis
soleus strain
ankle sprain/talus fracture
morons neuroma/stress fracture
hamstring strain
quadriceps strain
I hope that's it. Four years. I started late in life.

Probably just the morons neuroma.
7 years now, started in High school. Was healthy in HS, never hurt. These are just from the last 3ish years of college.
Runners Knee (right)
Stress Fracture 3rd metatarsal (ran through it)
Painful Shin Splints
Internal Hip rotator strain (left)
Torn Quad (left)
ITBS (left)
College running will injure almost anyone.
38 years-since XC season 1977.
ITBS
Runners Knee
Sprained ankle-4 or 5 times
Femoral Neck Stress Fracture
Blisters-scores of blisters, always at the most inopportune time.
Sciatica
Currently a chronic sufferer of dickdo disease. My beer gut sticks out as far as my dickdo. Tends to slow a guy down.

In my case, all of them. The meniscus might have been ACL but was the longest off from running. Took months to heal with zero running. The talus fracture could have been any fracture from the pothole type injury. I've had really bad sprains and ligament dislocations in the ankle but this one was very different, especially in sound, initial and exrutiating pain and relatively quick recovery.
Seven years, and darn it if I haven't had
- TWO major labral tears, with successful (if arduous) repairs. BTW heartily recommend the repair if you are diagnosed - PT did nothing for me. Surgery was basically a miracle.
- Hamstring strain (pretty mild - ran through it)
- Also two bouts with runner's knee
- And a femoral stress fracture that went undiagnosed for over 6 months. I ran my 10k PR on it. Hurt like the dickens.
Wow--undiagnosed for SIX months AND a PR on it.
This thread gets more and more interesting.
