I have been running for 9 years and I've had a metatarsal stress reaction (1.5 years ago) and achilles tendonitis (started running again 1 month ago)

20 years, I guess, on and off, mostly due to injury.
Achilles tendonitis
Quad strain
Groin strain
Meniscus tear
Patellar tendonitis
Compartment syndrome (I think)
PF
and finally ITBS/ITBFS, which ended everything.
running 15 years. female.
Achilles tendinitis- both feet, separate times
Plantar fasciitis- both feet, separate times
Posterior tibial tendinitis- left
Tibia stress reaction- left
ITBS- left. One bad flare initially and now a chronic but generally manageable thing.
Piriformis syndrome- left. Was chronic for awhile, now gone.
Psoas strain- left. Initially bad, then had a few lesser flares.
Generic shin issues in my early years (tibialis anterior strains, medial tibial stress syndrome)
There's probably more that I'm forgetting. The longest I've ever gone was two years without getting hurt and I had so many massive PRs after that period. You'd think with all the feet injuries and left sided leg injuries that you could figure out what's going on with me, but years of physical therapy and it still just keeps happening.
8 years
-Hip flexor strain which I think was actually FEMORAL ANTERIOR GLIDE SYNDROME
-ITBS
-Anterior Ankle Impingement
-ITBS on the other knee
-Peroneal tendonitis at the 5th metatarsal x 2
-Hamstring strain
-a few mild PF cases
I think that about covers it
Ah, the benefits of a full-time troll who never leaves mom's basement.

You guys are crazy. No real injuries, I try to train properly and look where I'm going.
And how many races did you win?
You injury prone runners are nuts. How do you manage to abuse your body so much and still think you are doing the right thing?
Right groin strain
Achilles tendonitis (both legs)
broken big toe
broken toe next to pinky toe
bone bruise on ankle that i couldn't run on for 3 weeks
all those happened in high school and college
i have since developed
patellofemoral pain syndrome (so bad i haven't consistently run in 4 years. can't jump, squat, do any dynamic action other than ride my bike)
pfps in conjunction with hypermobile kneecap
ps rojo sucks
What do U win? The capability to still be runnin'!! :)
I consider myself blessed here.....
8 Years
D3 College runner
-Shin splints twice and each time tried to run through them and ended being in pain for about 4months
-Achilles tendonitis
-F#@cked up my IT band/ hip flexor and couldn't run for a while
-Runner's Knee
-Plantar Fasciitis
-Heel Spur
-Strained calf/ hamstring
Bump thread, Not one for pityparties but this concept is a fact of this sport - as well as any sport.

I've had Morton's neuroma. Is it similar to what you had?
plantar fasciitis (6 months - 1month no running)
lower ab/pubic muscle strain (8 months - 6 months no running)
been running for 16 years
Holy crapola I didn't notice your last listed injury. Wow a new respect for you!!

Very true. I also think some runners are naturally prone to injuries from being unhealthy or chronically dehydrated and then some runners are not injury prone but they train to hard and then some injuries are freak accidents.
If you've ever done extreme sports, the injury rate is even higher for the same reasons. Probably more freak accidents in extreme sports. Mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, bmx, skateboarding... so many injuries it's sick. Not so many overuse injuries though.
Running probably has the most over use injuries that I can think of from any sport. Maybe baseball has repetive movements like squatting and throwing. Basketball has some of the runner's injuries too.
Been running about 21 years, female. Not a super high mileage runner, have been ramping up lately.
Shin Splints early on
Runner's knee early on
ITBS on left side, had to take time off
Plantar Fasciitis in right foot twice, first time was the worst. I get this one when doing speed work. And now it kind of lingers if I let my calves get too tight.
Various little strains/sprains which required some time off or reduced volume.
I have had many near injuries and as I get older have to do more supplemental stretching and strengthening than I used to, if I neglect those I get pretty bad.
none. 7 years come june
It looks like nearly everyone here has had plantar fasciitis. As someone who is currently going through a case of it that hasn't left in over 3 months, what did you guys do to get rid of yours?

So true!
16 Years:
Shin splints
Pulled Hamstring
Metatarsalgia
Calf Strain
Fibula stress fracture
Quad Strain
Sciatica or Piriformis
Planter Fasciitis
Femoral Neck Stress Fracture
Broken finger
Chipped tooth
Tibia spiral fracture
Twisted ankle
Typing them out like this makes me wonder why I keep running...
Show us one race that you won (link) and we can start a discussion on the cost of excellence. EVERY runner who seeks the best from his/her body deals with injuries. Ask Frank Shorter, Joan Benoit and any other world-beater.
