I see on the entries that Wheating scratched from the 800m and 1500m. I may have missed something, but was their news of him being injured or did he just decide he didn't want to run indoors?

He is attempting the Spartan Race World Championships. I think there is $15,000 on the line.
Bump. Any update on Wheating? Don't see anything on twitter. Besides Centro, the 1500 team seems wide open. No Manzano. Symmonds also not in the 800.
He's the guy that had that one good race like six years ago, right?
Actually Wheating was undefeated in at least 3 indoor races this year. This is a bit of a surprise.
Maybe he didn't want to risk injury when he did not have the standard to make it into the World Indoor Champs.
One of the most talented athletes ever (3:30!) has been protected with easy time trial races and super infrequent races for several years. And here is another opportunity to just race and his coaches have him tap out.

No, him scratching for being injured would be the furthest thing possible from a suprise.
RED FLAG?
I seem to recall him being interviewed after won of his wins this indoor season and he said he may or may not run indoors. Basically, he said his goal was Rio and he would be working towards that and would sacrifice indoor champs for that if need be.
He's looking quite good compared to his outdoor season.

Was this the caucasian fella with the porn addiction?
Wheating didn't have the World Indoor standard for either the 800 or the 1500, so perhaps he figured there was no point in an Olympic year.

Could be talking about the entire field.

Wouldn't it just be "undefeated in all races this year"? Otherwise one is not undefeated...
He looked in his bank account and determined that he had enough money for food and beer for the next month, so he decided there was no reason to race.
He is scared the meldonium from last year is not out of his system.
IDK the thinking but he is too tall and too injury prone for indoors to be very good for him. I'm surprised he raced so much indoors already.
The guy is a "head" case, that's his problem. I would love to see him excel, but for the most part, he just hasn't performed as expected over the last several years. Coaching changes haven't helped. He gave no reason why he wasn't competing, just stating, "It is with a heavy heart. . ." His fans deserve better.
Pfffff..."fans deserve" nothing. Give me a break, dude. NO ONE owes you anything- in track or otherwise.
