Seems that 3:59 was the auto qualifier only a few years ago. Now we have 35 guys who went sub 4 this winter. Who knows, maybe there will be a few more before season is done.

I'll actually say 36 guys, since Hunter is of College age (he's older than Fernandez was in his freshman year). So I'll add him to the list
Hunter's time would have ranked him 4th in the NCAA in the 2009-2010 year.
We're finally seeing what the influence of letsrun has done to transform the knowledge the American running community. Everyone can now have their dreams become reality.
Never was a dream of mine. Sub-4:00 means nothing now, just a great time at the college level and exceptional in high school, but less guys have run sub-13:30/28:00/2:10 than have run sub-4:00 in the US.
I haven't followed college track in several years, but the auto qualifier was typically 3:59.00. So, sub 4 alone doesn't cut it. How many of the 36 were sub 3:59?

No sh!t. Less guys have run a sub 1:43 too. What other non-comparable times do you have for us?

Seems like a troll, but here we go.
27 guys ran sub 3:59 this year. Compare that with 2009-2010 season (when auto was 3:59) where 14 guys ran sub 3:59...
There is a correlation between number of sub 4 and number of sub 3:59. When more guys run sub 4, there is usually more that run 3:59 also...

You seem like a troll.
Go out to your HS track and try to run two laps at that pace.
Then get back to us .
Obtw, your mom is yelling down the stairs,
"Michael it's garbage night tonight!"

I'd say a 4:00 mile is closer to a 7:55/8:33/13:43 3k/2mile/5k

You don't have to take a stab at the 1500 equivalent. The 1.08 factor is well established. Also, 147-148 is better than sub 4.
