Not quite sure what everyone's issue was with the race. Jealousy maybe. There are several over-sized tracks in the use. Yesterday, these two guys ran the faster indoor mile EVER in an "all collegiate" race. The only other times faster were by a Brit and an African at Millrose. Yes, it was 3:53 high. And your point was... Mine would be that is was really fast, and a really great race. It would be kind of cool to spend more time talking about two great runners. Go watch the video at the Huskies website and decide for yourself.
Yorks & McGorty will be lining up against each other again on the DMR anchor, then 3k the next day, at NCAAs.
Regarding McGorty & Fisher, they'll have 2 more indoor seasons together (assuming no injuries or turning pro) to win NCAA DMR titles and break TX's 9:25 college record. Next winter, look for Fisher to lead off, Australian Olympian Steve Solomon on the 400, whomever on the 800, then McGorty anchoring.
If Fisher's redshirt comes off this spring, they could run a DMR together at Penn Relays.
In that race, McGorty looked like he can hold a very fast pace, kind of like Jager, without being a great kicker. In fact, it makes me curious what he can run this summer in a very fast paced race on the circuit. It will be fun to see Fisher run the mile again now. Yorks has sure impressed.
Not saying these times aren't amazing but what's the deal with the 300+meter track? Exactly how is it advantageous? If the turns would be less tight on a 400 meter track indoor or out, then times would be 'faster' with no turns, or does the whip around on smaller track accelerate you ?

I guess I would have preferred if the actual time was listed. I'm not saying they weren't fast. However, if I see 3:53 with exclamation marks, I'm that a close to flat or low time. Like if I said I ran a 2:03 marathon with exclamation marks, your first thought wouldn't be that I ran 2:03.59. Anyway, it was a great run for college kids.

Yorks is going to be a fantastic mid-d pro. He just needs to be a bit more consistent
McGorty though, my god. He is NOT a miler. He doesn't have super speed or an amazing kick. I am convinced he's a 5k guy and I think he'll prove it this spring. To run 3:53 and be more distance-oriented is amazing. I hope he runs the Olympic Trials and I hope he runs the 5k.
