Looks like coach has AllieO doing mile repeats this weekend in at MW Conference (at elevation in ABQ). Probably a good idea prior to the 3K and/or 5K at NCAAs.
Yesterday, anchors DMR in roughly 4:38. She visibly slowed down after 1200m at which point she had at about 100m lead. Looked like BSU people were telling her to cruise it in to the finish. Splits (from my handheld) = 67, 69, 70, 72. She looked comfortable - actually looked like she was just cruising the whole way.
Today is running the mile prelim heat. Tomorrow runs the mile finals (if she qualifies).
AllieO mile repeats at MWC

It will be interesting to see her mile time in the finals tomorrow, at altitude, especially if it is a close race. There must be a few pretty quick lady milers out in the MWC. However, you must be joking about her ability to qualify for the mile finals...

I wonder about the people/person who is/are Impassionately promoting this female on Letsrun.
It has me a bit worried that she is surrounded by people with big egos who want to push her really hard so they can take credit for her performances.
Let's not forget the downward trajectory of the prodigious young female who is now struggling to run times that she ran as a high school student
My guess is that the enormous pressure of being under a spotlight is a big part of her demise
Something to ponder before all of this "hype" you are trying to create backfires on her down the road -

Demise? Who said anything about demise? The woman is rolling right now, incredibly fast and competitive. What planet are you on? -
Actually, she is probably under-hyped relative to other recent young stars (Cain, Efraimson, Hunter, Fisher, etc...). Anyhow, just hope she keeps it all going well.

Another hint: MC

Post above says, "It has me a bit worried that she is surrounded by people with big egos who want to push her really hard so they can take credit for her performances."
Who are these sinister ego-maniac villains?! They must not be too good at taking credit for her performances, because I haven't heard of it. Giddy up! -

What part of a potential demise "down the road" (a la MC) has you confused with her current competitive state? -
Well - who are these egomaniacs you fear?
-
Apparently, BSU is scratching Allie from the mile prelims today. So - no repeat miles this weekend after all.

i don't know who keeps bringing up her name but it is happening quite often so clearly someone wants to call attention to this athlete.
It's borderline obsessive
And I don't fear them. -

Two years ago she was running some obscure Mount Marathon and now she is the best female college runner in the United States. Of course posters on a running board are going to bring her up. -
If anything for what she has accomplished she has been UNDER hyped compared to Cain, Efraimson and even Sarah Baxter. She's run faster 3K and 5K's than any of them with far less attention. Think about this...Abbey D's 3K 8:51 PB is only 3 secs faster.

Now hold your horses ole fella. What are you calling "obscure"? How many races have YOU run in where people simply up and disappear forever? -
Allie appeared hurt at the meet. Limping before and after DMR and all today with ice and flowing tears.
-
I only saw her running her relay leg. Did not see her today.
BOOM - Molly Seidel just ran 15:19. Hope Allie isn't injured as it would otherwise be a nice rematch at NCAAs. -

She ran mm last summer, so 16 months less than last summer.
And a little recognition on this dive of a message board is hardly too much hype that will lead to her demise. -

It lost it's obscurity last year when Killian and Emily ran. Two years ago it was still obscure except maybe for that guy going missing and Ricky G writing a nice article about it. Allie was still running the junior race. -
She should be doing milk shake repeats. I'll be surprised if she is even active in the sport by the end of her NCAA eligibility.

I worry for that, too. Tiny female often equates to amenorrhea, low bone density, stress fractures. That story has played out too many times. I hope that doesn't happen to her though because she is incredibly talented.
